I am regathering, regrouping and resting. The past four days have been unbelievably stressful for me as I resolved life-changing conflicts and disagreements. I slept no more than three hours a night for four nights. I am happy to report that all disputes and discord have been equitably negotiated as of yesterday and I'm feeling really good.

I'm still seriously thinking about buying that SG but the brand new 2015 Fender 0149200506 Standard Stratocaster HSH, Rosewood Fingerboard, Black is mighty tempting for only $600, if I can still find one. It's bare bones without even a gig bag. It's not a counterfeit but it's made in China so I don't know how that speaks to the quality of the build and electronics. I like the 24 3/4 scale on my LP a lot and I read that, over the decades, it has even shrunk down to 24 9/16. I'll have to measure mine. I like the HSH configuration on the Strat but the scale is the main thing I like better on the SG than my current MIM Standard Strat. Ah, what to do, what to do?

If it were me, I'd probably go with the SG, since you already have a Strat, and you like that particular scale on the neck. If there's a way you can play both side by side, that would be another way to decide, in which you like better.

They're playing a marathon of the "Star Wars" movies on TV, so I'm watching that, and "The Walking Dead" is on later. Also, at some point I'll go for my walk, too.

It has snowed before, though, but that can happen in the early 30's temperature.
Okay. That's all I can take from you balmy weather guys, till I can't stands no more. Just thought you'd like to see how we Canucks tough it out through the year. Grab your socks and toque for this, and I guarantee it'll warm your pajoozie no matter what your temperature, and don't look for your pajoozie. It doesn't exist. I just made it up.

And if you don't believe it, ask Matt (2 provinces away). I'll bet he can relate too.

I thought the roads in Rhode Island were bad, and they are pretty bad. Not fishing hole size, though. :P

I imagine this would be a light dusting of snow up there: Image Image :P That was from our last storm.

Paul - I think your right but this is a tough one. My LP Custom is a beast at 10+lbs and the SG weighs in at a svelte 7lbs, plus the contoured body is much more comfortable for me to play. The SG Traditional comes with the same 490R/498T pups that are in my LP so they'll sound pretty much the same, but I'll confirm that. Thanks for your reply. You helped me think it through by writing my reply to you. SG it is... I think.

For me the SG isn't my preferred look, but I wouldn't mind the sound it gives, and a lesser weight. I have a friend that worked with ZZ Top and others, and over time he's collected a boatload of gear. He absolutely loves his SG, Marky, and yet, one can never have too many Strats too. If ya have a coin . . . :P

I have my microscope out. Where's the snow? Ah, there. I think I see it. Nope. I'll give it another try. Oh, that must be it. That little bump in the road.
Just kidding you, Paul. Thanks, for the photos. That's a lot and I know the treacherous winters you have (my having lived on the Atlantic coast). We have an early Spring thaw with intermittent cold temperatures confusing us right now. So, currently things aren't too bad. The video was some years ago, but it gives you the idea how things can get.
Anytime one wakes up is a good day in my estimation. :D

Have a good one.

That's probably the best bet. You probably could always pick up that kind of Strat down the road, not to encourage any GAS on your part. :P

I think the reason the roads get so damaged around here is because of the snow plows banging the crap out of them over a period of time.

That reminds me of a blues song that has the lyrics "any day above ground is a good day" in them. Not sure if that's the title, and I don't remember who did the song. It's a contemporary artist, I know, at least.

I'm doing laundry and I'm going for a walk. Maybe I should put in some playing time on the violin bass. Speaking of that, my girlfriend and are going to do a psychedelic 60's inspired side project with vampire go go dancing and the whole bit. :P It should be fun, especially for Halloween.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Paul.

I just read about a 7 mic kit that I bought on Black Friday 2 years ago for less than $200 Cdn. The same kit was advertised for just under $1000 on Amazon! I didn't buy into that. But, I read reviews that seemed to imply that others had or at the least might. Looking elsewhere the kit is about $450. 2 condenser mics in the kit go for $200 so I did good. I only hope no one is foolish to not check around.

The missus is watching The Bachelor so it's time to hit the Man Cave and the Strat before our expected tail end of a snow storm tonight shows up.

The pictures of all that snow are great. They remind me of when I was 15 years old in Chicago in the 60's. We got a record breaking 17" of snow in one day. My friend had two snowmobiles and we had a blast flying around the whole city. Main streets and even freeways were shut down but they were wide open to us. No one was out except us. We did not even see another snowmobile. It was surreal. No school just crazy fun.

They didn't have the snow plows back then?
