I would say you could go muddin', but don't you live in the desert? You probably don't get too much mud around, do you? :P

As well as things like Levi's being a rarity overseas, before the Cold War, I recall seeing Russian Merchant sailors running up and down the streets of Halifax yelling to each other as they bought up all the nylon stockings with glee for their wives. girlfriends, and likely for sale at inflated prices.

I'm currently watching Border Security which always amazes me as to the variety of ethnic food being smuggled. Most everything else needs little or no explanation. I always laugh about the time when I crossed the border in a little car. I got the full search. But, when I had a motor home with four of us inside, we got waved through without so much as a curious look.

Probably because it would have required an extra effort to search through a larger vehicle. :P

I'm going to go for my walk and then I'm going to walk "The Walking Dead" later. Also, I'm going to have some fish and chips tonight, but not when watching the show. It's often not a good idea to do that while watching that show. :P

If you start to hear the song Thriller, Paul . . . be very very afraid and RUN!
Yesterday, I spent hours trying to get updates for Windows to work to no avail. While the PC was scanning and doing it's thing I managed to workout on the drums, change a broken string, noodle with the Strat, and experiment with backup on the keyboards. Whenever I have frustrating downtime on the PC my Strat and amp is in reach. Today, the computer is running its course alone and I'm back to researching a 1734 Farthing. I'm no expert so that's as far as it gets. Buyer beware doesn't work in this case. :?

Getting ready to go for my walk and get some Chinese takeaway, otherwise known as my second kitchen. :P Wednesday is my monthly weigh in for my diet, so that's always nerve-wracking before then. I always worry that I won't do that well, but so far, so good.

I'm celebrating Shrove Tuesday with pancakes. Yeah, I know I'm a Canuck, and I should be having maple syrup; but, I'm fussy. Ever since I went to a celebration in Quebec's sugarbush I'm particular to Light syrup. The good stuff IMHO is light beer colour, harder to find, and it does not give you that ultra sweet sugar overdose, and I once had a pitcher full presented to me. It's also harder to find, and often more expensive, but not always. Some syrup is labeled light; however, it often is a touch sweeter and darker so I call it lighter than . . .That said, I'm out of the good stuff so today it's blueberry syrup. Berries and ice or whip cream is also a fave.

Happy Shrove Tuesday OOOO :D
Incidentally, pancakes were invented in China.

I have had Chinese pancakes, except they're not really something you'd have with syrup, although I suppose you could. That stuff sounds pretty good, though.

Trying to figure out what I want to do for dinner. Should I cook something, which requires going to the store, or just be lazy and just get a takeaway. Decisions decisions. :P

Asian pancakes with syrup? Yuck!

I just watched a program about Asian pancakes that are mostly savoury and more doughy than ours. The flour is also rice based, barley, and such with a variety of regional recipes coming from China, Korea, Japan, and many other countries. Every continent has pancakes. Baked Giant German Apple pancakes are a regular for me. Who could ever forget potato pancakes and the French crepe? Two totally different pancakes equally delicious in my opinion. YMMV

Then again there's my all time favourite - a simple waffle cone filled with ice cream. Okay, so it's a waffle. That's just a pancake on steroids. :D

There's a place downtown that has those or Belgian waffles on a stick. I never had them, though. They're closed for the season, but I'm sure they'll be opening pretty soon, come spring. Since this is mainly a summer seasonal tourist place, a lot of businesses shut down in the winter. It will start get crazy around here come May. You have the Newport Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival here, where Bob Dylan went electric. I've heard that had already sold out like a couple of months ago. I don't know who's playing, though. I haven't checked.
