I just had some lunch, after fixing a couple of lawn sprinklers that need repair.

Kicking back for the day while I have a chance (laughing with those who ask what do you do when you retire?) and listening to "This Girl" by Kungs vs. Cookin' On Three Burners". Groovy little tune. IMO

I think I might go get a sugar free Cherry Jello from the fridge.

Listening to some tunes, and I just ate some home made butter tarts that Mrs. FSB placed before me (not too sweet or runny - just right). I'm now heading for a cold sweet drink. Maybe some OJ before I lay me down to sleep.

That J-E-L-L-O sounds good too, Glenn. I likes that stuff but I hate it as a salad. (I'm the guy who scrapes gelatine off the corned beef and I am the only family member that won't eat head cheese). I really like it whipped with cream so it is like a mousse. Mmm! :D

Sometimes, I replace the water with ginger ale or 7Up to give it fizz when you taste it. I know some can't do that, in which case, Jello is yummy as is. IMHO.

Hope you enjoyed yours, Mr. Nylon.

I just had some of the strawberry variety. I love the stuff because I don't have to worry about excess calories with it.

I just got done with dinner and I went on the elliptical machine before that for my daily exercise. We were planning on going for a walk, but of course it decided to rain. :P I had to do some minor work on my violin bass last night. I had noticed some of the fret ends on the upper fret area were a little sharp, probably from the wood shrinking because of the winter, since they weren't like that when I got it, so I decided to file them down.

Not too much of a pain, just take some blue tape and I have a file for it. Afterwards, I took some stuff you can put on butcher blocks or wood tables, to re hydrate and polish up the wood, and applied it to the fret board, then let it sit overnight. Today I buffed it out and it looks pretty good. I also did this to restore the wood in case of any sanding marks around the frets. There isn't anything now that would indicate that. Now it's very playable, although I do want some flats for it.

Last year around this time of year I was playing the Strat and noticed fine cuts on my fret hand. Closer inspection showed that my neck had shrunk leaving sharp fret edges too. I didn't have the tools or the experience so I took it in to get filed and it was done beautifully.

Being an American Deluxe and, being that it is a common problem (although, less in some locations), it makes me wonder why the frets aren't smooth on that and other worthy models considering the cost of the guitar. It's a relatively inexpensive job at the retail level. and my hands would have thanked Fender. I think I know the answer. Just sayin'.

I do realize that even though factory smooth frets will still need to be filed to a determined position it would still be easier on the hands and less urgent or maybe satisfactory should it not be a severe shrinkage.

Good on ya for DIY, Paul.

I never had that problem when I lived in Florida, but it is usually humid down there, if anything. Up here, the temperature goes from extremely dry and cold in the winter and hot and humid in the summer. I live in an old house that was built in 1882 and not climate controlled, right on the Atlantic Ocean. It can play hell with my guitars like that. I had to do the same thing to my Squier Jazz Bass, but that one had worse fret burrs on it, which meant it took me a lot longer to correct that. Plus, that was the first time I had ever did the DIY, myself. To me, the main pain in the arse is taping the fret board up, since I don't remove the string to do it. It's just the most time consuming thing of the job. I've been lucky with the rest of my instruments, though. I haven't had that issue with them to where I needed to do that.

I now wonder is that's what happened last night, it was colder in my music room than normal ( I didn't jack the heat) brought my strat down (Am Stranded 2012) and at some point it felt like I got grabbed by a fret between my thumb and pointer, never happened before, took a look nothing seemed out of place, just decided to be more careful near the head stock. This morning while playing I did not feel it

I've had at least on bass get a little sharp in the winter one time, but was OK when the temperature warmed up and there was more humidity. Oddly enough, that seemed to only happen once with it and I never had to file it.

Doing laundry. I'm hoping it's not raining out so I can go for a walk. I want to wear my new winter coat that I found on clearance at Wallyworld (Walmart :P) for only $9. I won't be able to wear it next winter because it will be too big on me by then. I'll certainly get my $9 worth out of it, though.

I was about to watch some late/night TV; however, after a glass of wine and a hot cup of malted milk my eyes got vewy vewy sleepy. So I put on the National News and set the timer on the set to turn it off as now I lay me down to sleep.

Went for a walk then made a pizza for dinner. I got to hang up some laundry to dry, which I don't put in the dryer.
