Thanks, for your concern, Rollie. Yeah, the trip was hairy to say the least. With passing vehicles and passing lanes narrowing to half a lane and snow drifts up against barriers on our side the big Kahuna was with us, fortunately. I will try the longer alternate route on the way back in the day time. The last two trips to the coast were dictated as time was a factor. Going back home, we will have no such restrictions and can choose when and where we go. Here's hoping the weather cooperates.

I'm with you bros on the rum and the rum balls. Using 180 proof dedicated Commonwealth Pussers' rum balls, mince meat tarts, and plum pudding with rumsauce (along with anything else that could be spiked) was standard fare in the Canadian and other Commonwealth Navies. Many times we invited guests such as dry naval personnel such as American sailors to our ships and establishments to sample our once traditional perk. Similar Pussers' rum is now available for public use as today's society isn't so big on providing a Christmas dinner so spiked for the sailors and their families. So many naval families have continued and passed the tradition. In fact I'm having Captain Morgan's spiced right now, so I toast to you and yours and with a special appreciation for your sisters for keeping the tradition alive. I can taste those rum balls now. Mmm Mmm.

I'm dealing with what I believe is a cold. I don't know where that came from, but it's going to be evicted as soon as possible. I don't have time for that crap. I'm glad I got a flu shot earlier this year, just in case. It doesn't feel that bad, but I'm not going to let it get bad. Zinc lozenges, Vitamin C, and NyQuil for bed. I'll have to lay off the bourbon night caps, I guess. It might turn me into a zombie if I mix the two.

Here's hoping your cold takes a vacation soon, Paul. When I want a pickup to make my chest feel better, Mrs. FSB makes a blueberry tea with equal amounts of Amaretto and Grand Marnier topped with hot tea. It may not cure the cold but it sure does a good job otherwise. I'm not into too much medication other than my daily annoyances which are no problem with this.

So, I hope your holidays will be better soon.

I made the Thai (actually it was sort of a fusion between Thai and Indian, plus I forget the lemongrass) curry tonight and even though it came out really good, it sure makes the house stink like curry powder. That will fade in a few days, I suppose. My cold is going into the annoying, yet a good sign that it's clearing up, coughing stage now. At least my nose isn't leaking that much. I've stayed active this whole time and didn't let it stop me from my walks. I just didn't go as far as I usually do. I wasn't in contact with anyone else, so I didn't have to worry about contaminating anyone else, which probably was what happened to me, somehow.
