Facing the harsh reality of an old friend of mine that I've known for 23 years is full of it. All he wants to do is talk about the past when we use to hang out and play music together (he lives in Japan, now,) but when offered a chance to come play with us and have a real career playing music, he just waffles on it. One day he sounded keen for it then the next he's saying crap like you'll find somebody someday and then go on about stuff we did 20 years ago, and how many flakes we met trying to get some band together. Um, dude, you're a flake! I didn't tell him that, since I don't have the heart to tell him to piss off, because he was my best friend, and he gave me a place to stay when my marriage went to pot. Sure, we did have some fun times together, as well. It was a long time ago and I can't go back. It's the past. What gets me, I'm doing what we dreamed about doing when we started playing together and he now doesn't want a part of it, yet talks about that time period all of the time when I talk to him. He could, but it looks like he won't. He just talks about going back to Florida and doing a bunch of BS and hanging out with our old friends. Sorry, I'm not going to walk away from what I've pursued for 28 years to go back there and do what? I've already made too many mistakes and pissed away too many years by being a dumb $@!. I'm only going forward now while I still can.

Well, he's been married to a Japanese woman for about 13 or 14 years now (he met her around the time I was still living in Florida and he was there, as well. He teaches English there, but he was saying his marriage was going south and if it does, he'll have to leave Japan and go back to the US. We offered him to come live up here and play guitar for us so we can do some serious gigging, and he wouldn't even have to pay rent. At first he seriously thought about doing it, but then he waffled on it. He'd rather live in Florida and rot, I guess. Either that, or maybe things have improved there in Japan, but I doubt it.

Checking out some new bands and listening to old ones. There's also leftover turkey. Thanksgiving is the gift that keeps on giving.

My girlfriend and I went and got our flu shots and went grocery shopping at the store, we met this woman there who was 101 years old, but you wouldn't have known she was that old at all. She looked like she was 80 if anything. Pretty cool lady. She was a dancer and she stays active. She says that's the key to her longevity. I believe it, too.
