I went for a walk and naturally it started raining when I did, but at least I took and umbrella with me, and of course it stopped soon after I did my two miles in. :P

I'm making diner now, chicken breasts with pasta and doctored Campbell's Cream Of Chicken Soup over that. I doctor it by added some pepper, garlic powder, onion flakes, and parsley over it, then bake in in the oven. Pretty simple stuff.

There was a time when I used to get motivated to buy new computer gear and software.

I have a retired Android phone, an Android tablet that has outlived its usage (my poor choice in the beginning), a retired Windows phone, a Windows media PC with very useful software (mostly DAW and guitar related) and plenty of hardware possibilities with a good amount of storage and a limited life with the OS (mostly because of the Internet), an iPhone, older iPod, and Mrs. FSB's new iPad.

Time to upgrade. Today, I looked at laptops and tablets. Later I'll check the desktops.

I've lost the excitement with tablet OS optimization for desktops (I would prefer more desktop features on the portables - but, then again I'm weird), lack of standardization for connections, and additional cables to basically do what can be done with existing cables and outboard gear.

Okay, I'll buy it's faster and has a place, but when an investment in a new computer system means jumping through hoops to get what is already being done or used simply to promote a mobile application and to create new income for the manufacturers . . . my interest is decreased.

iPhone 7 changes are definitely not on my list for now. A laptop or tablet with thumbnail speakers may be handy  and a desktop PC with a possible fast thunderbolt connection may be reconsidered for a slower more popular lightning connection. Of course any useful existing computer gear is at risk for recycling or the thrift store.

Should I add Pokemon Go? Do I need an OS specific Smart TV that had connections and features replaced by a media box? Amazon with Alexa is going AI for a different consideration. Maybe, I should go unplugged with an acoustic.

Now the cars are pledging allegiance to specific computer OSs? That makes a lot of sense - to a gerbil. IMHO. Maybe, I should hold off until I buy that Windows, Apple, or Android car when I prefer a '57 Chevy with the rare vacuum in the ashtray.
Who's running this show?
P. T. Barnum?

Time to chill with the Strat. 8)

I've been watching the marathon of the original Star Trek, here and there, and I'm going to make a meatloaf later for dinner. I might put some time in on the bass, which is always a good thing.

When Star Trek began, I used to laugh at the dragon dress up creature so often seen on Star Trek promotional clips.
I grew up loving anything space related (including Stratocaster). I was in awe of UFOs and the possibilities of aliens, and for that reason I always wondered why Star Trek aliens (including Spock) had human noses.
One day the answer came to me  that it was partly to allow fans to dress up as their favourite show character thus creating the ultimate Trekkie, and profit for the company.

Then along came the movies Alien and E.T. I knew it! They don't look like us (or do they?).

So today, I'm reading the Forum, scratching my nose, and patting myself on the back for believing aliens didn't have noses like us any more than the likelihood that Jimmy Durante was a Martian. Still, Star Trek is entertaining for camp comedy as much as it is for factoids. IMHO.

Star Wars is real though.

Martian, were he with us today, he might have another POV. RIP Roy.

The funny thing about Star Trek is we pretty much almost have tricorders, with the smartphones, or at least communicators. Except their's weren't as aggravating I'm sure. :P

I'm watching it also. The computers were pretty much personal computers by todays' standards, with floppy discs they inserted into them. Star Trek also used in some scenes, flat screen TV's / monitors. Not too bad for things that weren't even dreamed about back then. The Starship Enterprise, I always thought it was designed from a toilet flapper with warp engines attached to it. "Live Long, and Prosper".

I made the decision I'm going to do some wood shedding and improved my guitar chops, so I feel more comfortable playing it in a live setting. It's not I have to be Jimmy Page, so I shouldn't worry about it so much and just try to get as comfortable with it as I do bass. Technically, I have been playing guitar as I have been playing bass, but I never really dedicated a lot of time to it like I did the bass, so it's been something that's just been around to mess with and throw some chords together for a song idea or two. I actually know a lot of chords, but I have two main issues: I'm not that great using a pick, although I've been getting more use to it, and chords involved the use of all four fingers are very difficult because I have large fingers. I suppose there are workarounds, which I have done and can do so. it just bugs me that I have those issues. I would probably have an easier time learning how to play a keyboard, or piano, but that's a whole different learning curve and I'm already quite familiar with the guitar, anyhow.

My biggest problem playing guitar is getting my quick mental vibes to connect with my slow fingers. :P
At least I'm not a quitter.

I'm still watching the Star Trek Marathon, and reflecting on what I was doing in that time as I watched the show back then.
Damn you NBC for dropping STAR TREK!!! Image
