Havin' a beer while I figure out some harmonica riffs and playing some Bob Dylan on the guitar, unplugged.

In one word: chillin'

Looking at laptops to possibly replace a desktop PC. I'm also reading a flyer that shows a new large local showroom dedicated to mid and high end turntables.

I've come to the conclusion that digital will NEVER be a mature technology as great as it is, and that advances will be slow to come to the consumer who is at the mercy of the distributors. On the other hand some digital is so antiquated at the core that development is at a stand still only to be surpassed. Maybe it's time to consider having at least one OS and connection that remains virtually untouched, while others continue their quest for perfection? All of this comes with a cost. Not only do consumers get nailed, but developers of hardware and software also become gun shy, and it trickles down to all of us losing out on many things that could have been.

Industry has benefitted, at times (but not for all needs), by using dedicated software specifically designed for the tool of choice. So, what I am doing today is scratching my head with a sense of humour at it all.

A lot of 1s and zeros to come.

Sadly, landfills are and will be filled with working hardware and software starved gear. C'est la vie.

Looking forward to watching Fear The Walking Dead tomorrow. I also have been slowly turning my schedule around to be more on days. I've actually been out and about in the morning, now that summer is closing down. It also looks like the keyboard player is going to work out, which is good so we can start gigging.

Going for a morning walk, since I'm now up during that time instead of going to bed, and I have to get a little sewing kit, since ours disappeared somewhere. I need to sew back a button. Actually, my girlfriend will, since I can't sew worth a damn. :P

For the first time in years I have six consecutive days off (not counting company laptop and cell phone sessions). I'm really relaxing for a change. I'm thinking retirement will be great!

Enjoy the time off, Steve. That'll give you a taste of the good life. When you retire you'll find that you'll likely have a relaxed schedule all the same, though. Life seems to pass by quickly; however, Steven Hawking would argue that. For me, I often ask what day it is, not because I forget, it's because I only need to know occasionally now (like when I have a TV show to watch or an event to attend).

For today, I'm looking forward to seeing tonight's closing ceremonies for the Olympics.

Have a good one, all.

Thanks, Rollie. Retirement doesn't come easy. It's a lurnin' process that keeps my dyslexia fresh. Steven Hawking taught me everything I know, and a whole slew more of what I still don't know. I think the black hole resides in my cranium. That's okay because I'm retired, and fuggedaboutit is a perk at my age. :D

I'm going for a walk, at least 2 1/2 to 3 miles. That's my daily exercise routine, which seems to be working. Also, I didn't have a chance to watch Fear Of The Walking Dead, which I taped. So I'll be checking that out.

Sounds good. 8) By the way, did you ever get your pedal board situation squared away?

I'm going to peel the remaining coloured coating from my backyard sidewalk. Winter isn't kind sometimes.

I may leave it au natural or refinish it (hmm . . . I wonder if a 3 tone colour burst would work?), then I'll grab a beer, listen to some tunes, and watch the clouds go by.

Have a great day gang. :D
