Enjoying the warmer weather and feeling guilty on the Westcoast. It's 11c/52F (a drop from a few days ago).

Had to leave Mrs. FSB behind on this trip, and she has -2c/28F with fresh snowfall.

Maybe it will warm up at home when I return at the end of the week.

Yesterday, I popped into one of Vancouver's bigger music stores on my way to a Skytrain station during my short visit here.

The store closed within 10 minutes of my entering it.☹️

I did, however, manage to see several Custom Strats that were glass cased at more than $5000 each. They were relic copies '62, '63, and such. Aside from sound, I can't say I like the look of the fabricated worn finish. On some guitars it works for me, mostly with the random wood showing through, but not with shiny black undercoat in the typical places found on many relics. In fact, sometimes the more relic scrapes the better. If the finish is to look worn, leave it natural with no gloss. Just my opinion YMMV.

However, with all the samples I just viewed, with the relic job looking similar on each, I thought there was something ascrew with the concept being attempted, although I couldn't put my hand on it.

Thoughts are with you, Steve, because a loss of a loved one is different for each griever and the time to grieve can be different for every one. Sorting out affairs can be overwhelming depending on the task at hand. But one thing for sure, there will always be things and events that will bring your father back to mind. It may be some music, or some event, or a slew of other activities and things. I think that trigger is in the Master plan. So amongst the red tape and affair management I know you'll take time to celebrate your Dad with fond memories.

Cheers

Thank you kindly FSB, as it turns out the night went well. We went to Dad's favourite restaurant and we all ordered meals we'd had with him in the past. We all made a toast to him and shared some stories. It was good to remember and to be reminded of him and by the end of the night there were a lot of smiles around the table.

Glad to hear of the smiles, Steve. That's great!

All the best.

Still trying to arrange/re-arrange my music space.
Too many distractions.

Reading posts and I have Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters on the TV. Corny, yes, but a pleasant break from all of the political craziness dominating the news channels. It's not that I'm not interested, it has more to do with the old adage " honesty is the best policy" because now it appears dishonesty is being embraced by all of the adults involved in this current political disaster. I am ashamed and embarrassed that young people are seeing such disappointing behavior by so many who demand respect but deserve none.

Listening to sound clips for the Boss SYB-3 Bass Synthesizer Pedal: http://www.bass-pedals.com/boss-syb-3-b ... ersatility It has some interesting sounds, but I wonder if it would be practical for my playing purposes, or my playing style? It could just wind up being something I'd play with for awhile, but not actually write or create any music with it involved.

The wife, and I took the dogs for a walk just before sundown. Now I'm watching the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Flyers - Capitals.
