The usual laundry on Sunday and then I'll watch the "Walking Dead" tonight.

That bass cab still hasn't shown up yet. Come to find out, it takes an extra week for it to ship because I suppose it's a "special order" because I wanted one in 8 ohms instead of 4 ohms (you'd think it would be in 8 ohms to begin with, since it is a 2x10" cab, but Carvin amps do go down to 2 ohms, I suppose, so they're probably configured for those,) so that's that, and they also charged an extra $20 for it. I remember they use to have the 4 and 8 ohm cabs listed as separate products in their catalog to where you didn't have to do this, but I guess that's changed. They also discontinued the 18" speaker cab that I also have, which I suppose doesn't surprise me, since those aren't so fashionable these days.

Yeah, there was a mix up with someone else's order and also that cab wound up being shipped to somewhere in Georgia, according to tracking. After straightening everything out with UPS and then Carvin, come to find out the damned thing hasn't even been shipped out yet (I originally ordered it on the 10th, by the way.) I should have just ordered a $299 Fender cab (like the 12" or 15") from AMS since that cost me that much after the so called $20 up charge to get it in 8 ohms and $40 shipping. I would have gotten that with in the following day or two after ordering it and the shipping is free. There was the Peavey cabs which are even cheaper, but I'm not too keen on the specs with those. I have to go cheap without buying used, but not that cheap to where something won't hold out as much. One thing I can say is Carvin can kiss my $@! when I'm going to order an 8 ohm replacement speaker for the 18" cab, which I was going to get from them originally. I found an Eminence 18" on AMS for actually cheaper and I won't have to wait 20 years to get it. :P Plus, it won't smell like sour milk or some kind of cheese, like the last two things I got from them did. Hopefully, the new cab I'm getting from them won't, after all it's supposed to be brand new in the box and not one that was sitting around their showroom. Although, the casters I order also smelled like that, and they were new. Go figure on that one. Maybe they make cheese in their building? :P

In the 70s I custom ordered my first new car. An electric blue Dodge Charger with white upholstery and raised white letter tires, etc. After waiting for a couple of months, it never showed up, and I had my T-shirt and smokes tucked in my rolled up sleeve waiting to cruise throughout the summer with my squeeze at my side.

They said it had been lost and I would have to re-order or take a deal on the white and black one on the lot. What a mistake. I ended up with a lemon after hoofing it to save up the cash as a young sprout. 6 months later I traded (unloaded) it for a motorhome which had been newly introduced to the market. Never got the sour milk smell out of the fresh water tank though (must have come from the same cheese factory as your post, Paul). Not so speedy as the Charger; but, the fishing was good.

That's not the end of the story. I initially paid a fair cash price up front for the electric blue Mopar (stewpid me). Later, it was traced to being across the country in the hands of someone who had laid out more cash afterwards! Nice, huh?

Hope the cab works out great for you, Paul. The journey isn't always smooth, but it's the destination that counts.

That sucks to hear about that car situation you had. It sounded like it would have been a cool car to have. I remember those from my childhood, especially. And of course, the van. :P

I'm sure the cab will be fine once it gets here. I use to have one back in the 90's, as well as a 15" cab. Of course, back then they had to have the traditional grey rat fur covering and those cheesy black plastic corner pieces. Cats certainly liked that. :P

I'm packing for the first of at least three trips to close out the year. Destination: San Antonio. Maybe I'll have time to visit China Grove, too.

Sounds fun. I've always wanted to go out to Texas, especially Austin, since it's such a big music destination. Never been that far west, though. I've only traveled up the east coast on either Route 95 or Amtrak.

Getting ready to watch the Grey Cup championship game of the CFL. Ottawa Redblacks versus the Edmonton Eskimoes. Should be a good outdoors game even if my favourite Hamilton TiCats lost by a touchdown in the final 2 minutes of the playoff against Ottawa who had a veteran 40 year old QB versus a replacement QB for the Cats. :(
In some circles Edmonton is favoured to win. Still, Ottawa is steeped with a great storied history that has only recently returned to the league, and they last won the Grey Cup in 1976. So good for the team, the league, and the fans. It is the 103rd Grey Cup.

Numbies and suckies are stacked up and ready to go. :D

Going to get up one of the local mountains for a hike. It's a gorgeous sunny cold day! -1C in Vancouver.

THEN, I too will be watching the Grey Cup!

I'm a lucky guy!

Peace, Gridlok :D

I'd like to travel to Canada, especially since I do have Canuck roots on my dad's side, but I need to get a passport, first, since technically it is another country, even though I could get to Montreal by car roughly around 6 hours from where I live. Take Route 89 all the way through Massachusetts and New Hampshire after leaving Rhode Island, at least according to the travelmath.com site.
