That's the last straw... Can somebody please explain to me what the heck twitter is? I've already heard an explanation by somebody else and I still don't get it. What exactly does it do and what is the purpose of it?

It's glorified texting. Like having a whole network of people recieve your message instead of just one. Another colassal waste of time if you ask me.

O.k. I'm following you from http://twitter.com/mustangtoo
I probably won't be reading much of what you do cause I'm a lot older and I don't want to break any laws. But please spend as much time as you can getting good grades so you can get a nice job and buy nice guitars. Think of trades or certificates that will get you money so you can get in somewhere with a future. Just my advice and I tell this to everyone :)

I have no idea what this twitter thing is all about but apparently from what I've seen on Tara Reid's site I'm supposed to follow her daily life? Isn't that called stalking? Whatever! She can arrest me if she wants. I love her so much it hurts.

And from some cases I've read, a terrific way to lose your job. It seems to "enourage" blurting out the first thing that comes to your mind even more so than email.

They're pretty much your current "status" or what's on your mind. Like, you'll see a list of people, each one with some random blurb, what they're doing at the moment, or witty line.

Some people love that stuff. Me - it's cool a bit, but gets old. I'm not on Twitter but similar status blurbs are on Facebook.

This Twitter thing sounds terrible. With companies like Fender, why aren't e-mail alerts good enough. I was once on Facebook and I never did the update thing. I never understood the need for it I guess. Now that I know twitter simply does that, I really don't understand the need for twitter. Why do you need to broadcast everything? Is there some sort of purpose for it? When I want to know what people are doing I just call them. I just don't understand why anyone needs a constant stream of information.

I don't understand a lot of things about the internet. I left Facebook a few years ago because it is useless. It simply serves as a way of connecting yourself to acquaintances. You call or e-mail your friends, you don't Facebook them. If these people remained acquaintances and nothing more, then apparently there is no reason to be connected to them. Similarly, your old friends have lost touch with you for one reason or another and it is probably best they remain in the past.

...like I said, I just don't get it. It is all very frustrating to me.

Things have just about gotten too far. Can't anybody do anything without feeling the desire to tell the whole world? I'm going to start something like Twitter, but its called Sh**ter...This way, you can let everyone know when you go to the bathroom, what number you did, and then you can either take a picture of it, or select the color it was...so you can let everyone know what you just did in the Sh**ter. The best part its, you can keep up with your friends bladder and bowel functions, and people can keep up with yours as well....I mean it seems like many people want everyone to know when they're online, offline, texting, talking, twittering, along with any and everything else they do no matter how routine or mundane it is, so why not let your friends really get to know you, sign up today for Sh**ter...

Its like IMs for your BMs

You're welcome for the follow back. We're just getting started with Twitter but are already starting to build a pretty healthy list of followers there.

Twitter is mainly a microblogging site made for texting on. Kind of like...you text in on Twitter that you just won one million dollars and people check that out. I fail to see the point in it, but that doesn't mean others feel the same. :P

I work in the industry so I'm biased, but I actually prefer keeping in touch with people via the internet (email, Facebook or Twitter) than telephones. An email message or Facebook status update doesn't interrupt you when you're doing something else and demand to be answered right away. It conveys just a little bit of information, and then you can respond if you like, or not, or wait until it's a better time.

That said, I set up a Twitter account from work so I could find out more about it but haven't, to date, thought of anything I want to say.

And then also, I feel compelled to point out that many, many people say the same thing about internet forums like this one - "Who has time for that? Why would you spend all your time typing things to strangers? Why not have friends you could visit in person, in real life?" But we know better, don't we ;-)

well now it's a day since i posted this, and Twitter has already gotten old.

So yeah, i'm probably never going to get on it again, give or take once a month or so. same thing happened with myspace. to think of it, it all does seem kind of pointless. just something to do when you're bored, i guess.

and as for dropping the keyboard and picking up the guitar, i don't have internet at my mom's and i only get online at school or my dad's house.

trust me, i play guitar much more than basically anything else. just wanted to put that out there.
