Someone on my forum was asking about serial No's of limited edition guitars...

I am contemplating a purchase of a new Martin Eric Clapton #10 of 461. I was going to pass it by but then I saw the #10 on it...

Do you think a low serial number adds to it's value from a collector's pint of view, or is it just a nonsense? Also, are the first or last ones of a certain model made particularly valuable?

Low serial numbers are always considered more desirable from a collector's point of view, regardless of what you're collecting! Anything that sets one item apart from another is good, although the first in a sequence always seems more collectable than the last. I can't find the page at the moment, but I was reading somewhere that certain custom shop releases are expected to appreciate healthily, as long as you have one of the first ten or so released in a run of a few hundred.

I would not pass on that deal.THE NUMBER ONE usualy goes to the artist and some other honchos sometimes grab an early number.10 is to good to pass up,and Claptons stuff always goes up in value go for it.
