Well I saw this movie today, and I must say that it is the best one I saw in a while. Redemption, engagement, friendship, they throw all this in your face and as usual, there is no way that you can make sense out of it. All the actors are intense in their roles, Downey Jr is very credible in this movie. I can see oscars coming. So anyone else saw it? Any other opinions? See ya around.

Oh yeah and the music was great too, Beethoven rules. :)

I saw the special on 60 Minutes about the real soloist, and it was pretty neat. Hope to see the movie soon.

Yes everything can be criticized. Can you imagine that the movie Raging Bull didn't win the oscar for best movie but was awarded best movie of the 80's.

This is a quote from Wikipedia about Raging Bull:
(Legacy
By the end of the 1980s, Raging Bull had cemented its reputation as a modern classic. It was voted the best film of the 1980s in numerous critics' polls and is regularly pointed to as both Scorsese's best film and one of the finest American movies ever made.[47] Several prominent critics, among them Roger Ebert, declared the film to be an instant classic and the consummation of Scorsese's earlier promise. Ebert proclaimed it the best film of the 1980s, and the fourth greatest film of all time.[48] The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
Raging Bull was fifth on the Entertainment Weekly's 100 Greatest Movies of All Time. The 2002 Sight and Sound Poll found listed tied for sixth with The Bicycle Thief.[49] In 2002, Channel 4 held a poll of the 100 Greatest Movies,on which Raging Bull was voted in at number 20. Halliwell Film Guide, a British film guide, placed Raging Bull' seventh in a poll naming their selection for the "Top 1,000 Movies".)

It is easy to criticize a movie , much less easy to do an icon movie.

Beeing a movie lover myself, I could easily find lots of things going wrong about any movie. But when you are in the mood, you just immerse yourself in the story, and enjoy the work of all the people who made the movie.

As many other things in life this movie is not for everyone to like, but nonetheless The Soloist is a very good movie by my standards. I should add that I do not place The Soloist and Raging Bull at the same level, I chose Raging Bull because it is a good example of critics going odd.

And Beethoven rules.

Happy movies. 8)

Claude.
