Remember that band I got together last week? Well, we played our thirty minute set last night at 10:00. It went OK for something that none of us practiced.
The only song that was sort of a trainwreck was Texas Flood, since my rhythm section was playing it with a strait rock feel, not a blues feel. And there was nothing I could do about it short of stopping the song, so I ended up just cutting the solos short to make it end quicker. The other songs all went great though!
My friend's band went next, and while they were playing the band leader for the band that opened for us came up to me and asked me to play electric guitar in her band! It's sort of a rock/singer songwriter type band and all of the members are about ten years older than me. AND on top of that, after my friends band stopped playing and we were packing up, he invited me to electric guitar in his band too! They play hard rock. So now I'm in three bands!

I learned something on this gig too, beer causes people to dance to otherwise undance-to-able music. I also learned that when Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan are the ones who influence what clothes you wear to a gig, it causes policemen, particularly the older ones, to watch you like a hawk.

Congrats, texasguitarslinger - that really is a result! Sounds like you nailed it. And just think how fine it is gonna be when you have more that two days to rehearse!

Now we can both stop having those nightmares...!

Cheers - C

LOL, I've already had quite a bit of band conflict experience in the past. I think I'm used to it by now. However, juggling practice for three bands is something new to me. Plus I don't have a car... But that's what friends are for!

Sounds like a decent start with better results after some rehearsals.

Good luck!

Hey TexasSlinger-

Great Job ... Nice to hear that it went well for you. 3 Bands equals three times the drama. I hope it all works out. Remember not to spread yourself so thin that you burn out-
