So i'm sure many of you got the $50 coupon in the mail for Guitar Centers big rebate sale. Well i did too, so I drove out there expecting the usual weak price reductions. Needless to say I was suprised  to find that many items were actually on sale! Some of the prices were just too good to pass up, so I walked out with a Image

Spent about 3 hours messing with the ovation and another hour playing with the cry baby. My fingers hurt something fierce when I finally did go to sleep last night.

[quote="all_thumbs09"]So i'm sure many of you got the $50 coupon in the mail for Guitar Centers big rebate sale.

Negative on the coupon. I've been looking for that since it was a topic of ciscussion around here earlier in the week. I ask my guy about that yesterday. Some of these promos are regional. They were having this price reduction sale yesterday as you well know. Notwithstanding,

As Lite'nin already knows, from another thread, I have a GC FSR Fender Deluxe VG Stratocaster in Sienna Sunburst on order.

Just to clear up a question about GC's pricing. Guitar is priced at $1099.99. The split is $1000 for the guitar, $87.99 for the case. $12.00 for shipping and handling. $94.87 tx  $1194.86. When I bought my Gilmour, my dealer told me that they split out the price of the case because people often come in asking for a guitar only.

Anyway, this current VG promo is saving nearly 50% on the pricing over former retail. The original tag on a standard VG I was playing off the wall
was $1760. The FSR I seem to recall being priced at around 2K.

Sometimes it just pays to sit on your bicycle and pedal in neutral.

Now the question is, did you pay for it all with money you saved from not smoking?

Thats a great question Ellen, and the answer is No! I have not been putting said saved dollars in a jar or box or anything to see how much i'm saving by not smoking.

I spent just over a month calculating how much my wife and I spent on coffin nails. After arriving at that number we put out heads together to come up with some kind of material carrot if you will, to encourage us to stay quit. This is what we came up with:

Image

The payment is exactly what we spent a month on smokes.

I bought the Ovation because i had a coupon.

Truth be told... I'd rather play the ovation than drive the beemer 8)

Wow, Thumbs, that is impressive. Perhaps you should find the forum on BMW.com and post the same message there? You could encourage non-smoking all over the internet, with an incentive like that...

(btw, I know I've mentioned before that I started saving money when you all stopped smoking, and so far I've bought a new pedal with the proceeds - a TS 808. Obviously my imaginary habit was not a real heavy one, but I'm still getting a bit of a nest egg.)

I'm hardly an inspiration, in fact its almost embarrasing to think one could waste that much money on a slow painful death.

On a brighter note... Congrats on your new pedal! :D

Holy crap that's a lot of cigarettes. Although at the price nowadays you'd think it'd be something good for you. It's cheaper to smoke cigars almost.
