You could never accuse me of being a patriot and I'm certainly not much into old english Hymns and choirs. Choir of Birmingham certainly impressed me today. Symphony Hall is certainly a experience to enjoy. Despite being in the cheap seats the acoustics were tremendous. Birmingham City council shelled out £6million on it to attract Simon Rattle to conduct their symphony orchestra. Amazing place.

Thats my favourite flag ever. It perfectly epitomizes my philosophy towards society. I may have to adopt a variation for the peoples republic of Nick.

Mr Bill i'm quite pleased to say I did do a bit of St Georges Cross waving at the choir/brass band concert. I'm pleased to say my next concert is to see this lady

Its about time i got back to normality. The highbrow stuff is ok once in awhile but it just aint rock'n'roll.

So Ninj, did you get Simon Rattle after all?

And did you sing Jerusalem? I sang it in the shower that morning: my moment of patriotism...

Cheers - C

No i've been a longtime abstainee from singing jerusalem. I really dont like its british zionist roots. I got stuck in for land of hope and glory though.

No simon rattle. We were graced with Steve Roche. Everything was birmingham based. Even the Soprano Sharron Burn studied music there.

Ah, but Jerusalem just has much better music, along with it's weird words (by 18th-19th century oddball William Blake)...

Try it when you've been too long in some distant dusty country - it suddenly all makes sense!

Haha - very good!

Though you've got to admit, the words of Scotland the Brave or Flower of Scotland are just as daft as any other patriotic song we can think of. At least Jerusalem is about doing something constructive - if hard to be quite clear what, and probably heavily under the influence of "substances"...

My dad had Jewish descendants yet it was his favourite national song. I'm just an oddball and had no problem with rule britania, despite us enslaving half the world.

Snowy dont worry mate come November 30th i'll be singing flower of scotland and raising a bottle of buckfast. I'm quite for national celebration days. Carl Chin gave quite an elloquent speach about being a british brummie as being all encompassing. Due to the high level of multicultural intergration within the city. In other words 'if your with us your one of ours. Yes you can keep your national identity, we'll even join in with it and make it ours'.

Thats what made me proud to be british.

I'm just having a giggle Ceri, I'm all for St. Gerordie  Only when I have my "see u jimmy" hat on, you've gotta watch out dude. On a serious note, I'm actually a direct descendent of Sir William Wallace. So perhaps I should be a bit more patriotic  It's a nice afternoon, I might just go sack York
