I just want to know how many people here write their own music. I will, as soon as I get Progression for my birthday. It's supposed to be coming out this month, so I don't know how much it is. I hope it's affordable.

Don't sweat it, chaos. A photographer friend of mine was lucky enough to attend a workshop given by master shooter Ansel Adams back in the 70s. Adams told the class, "You have to make 1,000 pictures just to get the crap out of your system."

Same goes for songwriting. Nobody's good at first. Keep plugging.

Progression is new computer software that allows you to create tabs, simulate amps, work with a MIDI guitar, and a lot of other cool stuff. The tabs you write can also be played back to you. I think it sounds pretty cool.

PS: sorry i wasn't very specific.

HC, I'm not a negative person. But I don't let misinformation stand: I correct it. And there's been a ton of it on this forum lately. Some feel that's insulting. But I think it makes the forum essentially worthless if you log on and read a whole bunch of crap that isn't right.

I just wish everybody who didn't know the right answer would just not post. But when I know they're wrong, I'll tell them. I mean, posting good, usable information is why we're here, right?

I write much of my own music. It's more instrumental stuff until I get a singer (I'm no vocalist!). I've been looking into G7 software from Sibelius since it's geared toward guitarists. It's under $100 at MF.

I wrote my own music. If you go to the myspace link below you can hear 4 of the songs. I have more that I will post on myspace in the next month. Appreciate any feedback or if you have a myspace page send me a friend request.
