post your favorite line from any song.

at the moment, mine is:

"Last dance with mary jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin in and im
Tired of this town again"-Tom Petty, last dance with mary jane

i think its one of my favs because i live in the smallest town in the world and summer is coming which means no school. gets really boring.

Hitrj 1393: Sting is always good for a quote.

"Hey there might brontosaurus,
Could you have a lesson for us?"

Or

"I have only come here seeking knowledge;
Things they would not teach me of in college."

But I'm afraid I like those for all the wrong reasons. I fall about laughing at their pomposity...

Here's a verse I like for the right reasons:

"Up comes a coaster fast and silent in the night
Over my shoulder all you can see are pilot lights
No money in our jackets and our jeans are torn
Your hands are cold but your lips are warm..."

Deep nostalgia for my own stolen moments behind the sea containers down by the docks, many, many years ago. I've watched those moving pilot lights over someone's shoulder...

Cheers - C

My favorite was penned by the esteemed songwriting team of Becker and Fagen:

"You must know it's right
The spore is on the wind tonight
You won't feel it till it grows"

The ultimate pick up line from Steely Dan's "Rose Darling". Geez, I love those guys.

'Twas in another lifetime
One of toil and blood
Where blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness - a creature void of form
Come in she said I'll give you.....
Shelter from the storm

Dylan

Hey, hey, hey... I was born a Rebel.
Down in Dixie... On a Sunday morning.
One foot in the grave... one foot on the pedal
I was born a Rebel!

Tom Petty

I said find yourself first
And then your talent
Work hard in your mind
So you can come alive
Then prove to the man
Youre as strong as him
Cause in the eyes of god
Youre both children to him - Jimi Hendrix - Message to Love

So life is just a game
and there's many ways to play
and all ya do is choose - Stanley Clark - Life is Just a Game

Do ya love it, do ya hate it
There it is the way ya made it - Frank Zappa - Absolutely free

Ah so many good ones to think of! I do have a few on the forefront of my mind though. Don't expect them to be deep...at all.

"Desperation is the English way"- Time by Pink Floyd

"I like my sugar with coffee and cream"- Intergalactic (I think) by The Beastie Boys

"Sometimes is all the time and never means maybe"- Loving the Alien by Velvet Revolver

"YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER!" - The Soft Parade by The Doors
