I'm going to try to get to the San Antonio session. I've been wanting a dual-humbucker Squier Tele, so this model may be the one! 8)

I have to admit that I was quick to dismiss John 5. I saw the makeup and the goth gear, and I kind of blew him off. But then I saw some of the videos he has done for Fender and the work he has done with Fender University. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. I'm not a fan of most of the kind of music he plays, but I definitely admire his talent and appreciate his willingness to share his gift. I think he'd be an interesting person to meet.

None in my area either.
I wrote him off as another of these goth guitar wannabes. But same thing, I listened to his music and saw his DVD and he's the real deal. Hey, anybody who can get Albert Lee to play on a CD with them is all right in my book.

Underneath all that shtick is one serious ace player.I always read articles with him in the mags and he lives and breaths guitar. He is a big country fan.He says when he is on the road he will go out and buy a bunch of instructional dvds or see who is the best teacher around and book lessons. He is married to a porno star and said between sex and the guitar the guitar comes first.NOW THATS DEDICATION

I just got back from the John 5 clinic at Sam Ash in San Antonio. It was a blast!

He played a variety of musical styles and answered lots of questions. There were also free giveaways--I won a Squier J-Bass t-shirt!

When your rob zombie, showman, singer, filmmaker, and veteran rockstar and you need the best guitarist for your band, you hire John 5.
John also has one of the largest telecaster collections, he has said one tele he paid 130,000 dollars for. Who says you cant play metal on a tele, just ask Jim Root. Check out J's newest solo album " Requeim "

For the benefit of those who wonder whether John 5 played the actual Squier instrument during his guitar clinics, check out the headstock on this picture:

He started with the Fender model and switched to the Squier about halfway through. My ears couldn't tell the difference.
