Hi All,

I just joined the forum - I've been playin for over twenty years, have done some cool things like built the world's largest playable electric guitar for the Discovery Channel (yeah, that Stone in the credits is this Stone), I worked with the legendary Seymour Duncan for a few years (and of course had him build the pickup for the world's largest guitar), been in a bunch of bands, and now I'm doing something that is really fulfilling - I'm trying to reduce instrument theft (there's more info on my site if you want to check it out at www.screamingstone.com and on myspace.com/screamingstone...)

Please spread the word - "Don't steal musicians' instruments!"

Thanks. Rock on.

Screaming Stone

Cool. Welcome to the forum. As far as instrument theft deterrents, a .357 magnum seems to work for me, however I understand this solution isn't for everybody. Hope you come up with something really great.

I always thought that if I ever have enough money one day I'm going to get gps chips inserted into my guitars so I can find them if someone steals them.

I think I have something good - use the community of musicians to help reduce instrument theft by not buying stolen instruments - reduce the demand, lowering the market value, and hopefully the supply will reduce (make it impossible - or nearly impossible, to sell a stolen instrument.)

Or at least reduce the amount of theft going on. Check the site - there's hundreds of guitars stolen every year - today it was a customized LP with the name Dwight Johnson engraved on the truss rod cover, brown burst top, 2 P90 pups, mahogony pickguard.

Welcome!

Thats good work your doin man, now we just need to get pawn shops to stop buying those stolen guitars!!

At home, my guitars are protected by 220 lbs of German Shepherds. That and a few handguns. Away from home, I never let a guitar out of my sight unless there's someone I trust my life with watching it. I rarely take an expensive guitar out anyway.
