Today it is difficult. Having been evacuated from the Path Train beneath the Trade Center on 9/11 and coming out onto the street at 9:00 am to witness the second plane's impact and folks jumping off of the roof of the first building.
When I think that lots of people had a far worse day I am grateful for every day.

What were you doing when YOU heard ?

It is a sad day. But we also must feel for the many thousands more who have died in Afghanistan and Iraq on both 'sides' as a result of the 9/11 attacks.

I have to say the falling man photo, as it has come to be known, is possibly both the most beautiful and yet most upsetting a photos ever taken.

Terrible business indeed.

I was running late to school I was about to walk out the door and my mom told me to turn on the TV and when I did they showed the second plain hit. I sat down in front of the TV and didn nothing for the rest of the day other than watch the news. I was a Senior in High School.

i wish it could have stayed the same. ignorance is bliss.

I was sitting at my computer (much like I am right now) when my wife's mother called and told me to turn on the news. What a tragic day.

R.I.P. to all those who lost their lives that terrible day.

If you have not seen it yet the movie "United 93" is a must see.

I'm just starting to realize that there are a lot of younger people posting here. Not that there's anything wrong with that = NTTAWWT.

Keep the memories coming in and "never forget."

I heard the news alittle late. I think it was about 2:00 in the afternoon when I finally heard. At the time, I was working at some horse stables and earlier that morning some people called and wanted to schedule a trail ride for around 8:00 a.m., so I had to take them out and didn't get back in until around noon. We didn't have a TV in the barn, but we always had a radio playing, nobody ever payed attention to it so everybody missed out on the news.

Unfortunately I had to wait until I got home that evening to get filled in on everything.

Is there actually a photo of somebody falling out of one of the buildings???

I was in a psychiatrical clinic for mental problems (depressive), listening
to music in my room when someone said there was a plane crash.
In horror i watched the second plane hitting the WTC on the television,
couldn't speak and was in disbelieve.
Live has not been the same anymore.

Best wishes to you all in the USA.

Peter from The Netherlands/Europe

There is also film footage but I find that rather distasteful. The photograph depicts a man falling, "The Falling Man" - no one knows who he was, but he seems like he is flying. Like he is at peace despite being in such an awful situation. A still photograph can say more than any film footage could IMO.

I don't think it was used in any of the American newspapers, but it was published over here for sure.

I was in the Dentist's at the time, watching CNN when it happened. Needless to say all the dentists and patients had come into the lobby to watch and no work was being done. We watched for another few hours and went home in something of a daze. I was in my second year of highschool

A sad day indeed. I am a former NYC paramedic, and worked with many of the EMT's, paramedics, police officers, and firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

I still lived in Texas that Day!
I was remembered being half awake hearing my science teacher telling me that some kinda plane flew in the world trade center!
And we were all very curious at what happened and seeing as we didn't have any cable or network tv stations at school we made this paper clip serve as an antenna (very Maguiver of me huhn! :) )
So anyway when I saw the first plane crash into that building it scared the living $@!& out of me especially cause Peter Jennings said that one of the flights was an American airlines flight.
And the reason why I was Scared was because my mom was an air-hostess for American!
Not long after that they evacuated the school fearing that the terrorist would target the WTC Dallas and the FAA!
So I ran home as fast as I could and of course my dad heard about it as well and he was doing his very best to reach her...luckily She's still here!!
And I thank God for that (and I don't even believe in him!!!! )
Turned out she got turned down a New York flight and got switched over to a Connecticut flight.
So that was what happened in my life on that day...
What resulted in me living here in Europe, and missing my family overseas! :(
