Are there any reliable online tab/chord websites. I am just starting my guitar learning journey...and one easy-sounding song, "The Freshman" by the verve pipe would be cool to learn. :D

My favorite tab site is Google! You can usually find at least three, sometimes up to 10+ tabs for just about everything. But then I always supplement the tabs with my own opinion from listening to the song myself, and sometimes with scrutinizing the fingers of the original player using YouTube videos.

If you have a song you want to listen to but don't own a copy of it, a great site is www.justhearit.com.

I'd be carefull and keep an open ear with any online tabs. Some are great some are not so good. Unfortunately the ratings system seems to mean little in the way of quality.

Guitarpro5 is an excellent program that will play GPtabs on your PC so you can hear exactly what is being expressed in tablature. There isnt the range of tabs available for it that there is written in basic tab though.

I have GuitarPro5 and it's pretty decent. There is a free one called PowerTab that plays songs in midi form, not quite as good as GP5, but there are more songs for it currently.

You should check out chordie.com too, although 90% of the tabs there came from ultimate guitar. The public song books is by far its best feature.

I like Chordie. A lot of their stuff is simply chords without any incorrect fills or confusing lines of solo's.

There are good tabs and there are bad tabs and you willknow htme when you see them. Sometimes they are dummied down and not in the correct keys. Like I said, they are hit and miss. I use them to simplify learning a certain song, once I have an idea of how the song progresses, I will get the real sheet music and play it correctly, or as well as I can.
