Lets see :?: You have Gibson as the First option and you have Quote{ I Agree With The First Option} end quote, as the second option  I guess everyone will just have to vote for Gibson!

I'll just send in a written vote. I say Fender. Same quality for less money.

Fender is a great Guitar for the money but it is no where near a Gibson Les Paul when it comes to quality.

Lets see; I got my first LP in 1971 a gold top deluxe and have owned 6 others over the years. BUT until I comitted to a strat and later a tele, I had no sound so to speak. To me, the paul dictated and limited how I played and the strat expanded the possibilities. So I vote Fender.

This poll is worthless because it isn't fair. You ask Fender vs Gibson yet both options are for Gibson. If you took all the "Fender" responses and put it in the poll Gibson would be so far behind

As I suggested earlier, the question does not deserve the energy expenditure displayed here. Even to my own response. If the OP understood how distinctly unique each of those instruments was in original concept, how they have evolved individually, and what factors have been found to contribute to maximizing the tonal possibilties of each, the question would never have been put, either on this current thread, or in all the others of similiar ilk.

I'd put this one to bed post haste. Have done with it already :?

Mind that not....this sort of thing comes up often. It's just that since the inception of the Forum, this question has become redundant in the number of times it has been addressed.

These kinds of comparison demand a pointed relevance to a particular issue. In the present context, for example, I would consider discussions on the introduction of the Gibson Dark Fire, in that Fender is discontinuing the VG. It would be of interest to the Forum, and the company as well, whether or not we felt that Fender should continue to pursue that area of product R&D and marketing with broadbased consumer interest and demand in mind, or give that endeavor over to the Custom Shop where those kinds of price points are relevant to the discriminating player who requires a particular tool for a particular task.
