Has anybody played one of theses before? If so, could you fill be in on what it is like. That would help a lot. Why doesn't Fender make one of these? They seem really fun. Thank you

Do you mean that six string banjo, that tunes the same as a guitar ?
If so I've seen these on e-bay and they do look interesting. I haven't heard one but I would also like to hear from someone who has.
Someone playing one of those and someone else on electric dobro would be pretty cool, I've thought about buying both. Yeah, Wild!! 8)

kinda, The one I saw looks just like a guitar, but it has a 6 or 8 inch drum head sunk in. It has a neck pick up on it and is semi hollow. I would love to do this to my telecaster.

thought a 6 string banjo tuned as a guitar was called a banish guitar, at least the last one i played was called that.

Maybe it is called banish. I think the British made it first. The model I'm thinking of is made by goldtone I think it is the ES model.

I watched some guy play an instrument similiar to one of those in a concert on PBS once. They did the "Beef: It's What's For Dinner" theme (sorry but I don't know what it is actually called) It was great.

I built this one using a Warmoth neck it plays like butter and has a very unique timbre.
Check it out here:

I've played them--they play just like a guitar, but give you a banjo sound--I've only played banjo shaped ones--which around here are are called bantars or guitjos--although I have heard banjitar as well.

I kind of prefer guitjo.

But back to the instrument--I've played some blues riffs on them--and some noodling around--sounded cool.

There's a guy who plays one at a local open mic night around me. Not really my thing. But it is different. Not quite a guitar, not quite a banjo. It's a guitar and banjo stuck in limbo.
