During the last week I have been sick the latest bug that is going around and have spent quite a bit of time sleeping on the couch with the TV on. Commercials seem to be the only thing I'm really awake for and there is one that stands above the rest. Bridgestone Tires is having a sale and at the end of the commercial it talks about the other great things you can buy with the money you save. Several tires roll up to the screen as this talking is going on. One of the tires the tread design is of a Fender Stratocaster!! It actually looks pretty cool, I wonder if Bridgestone can make that tire?

I think if the tread or tire is made in some sort of injection mold, it can be done, and I don't know if there is an episode of How Its Made on Discovery Channel where they make tires, but that might help you get an idea, since you got some couch potato time...

I think maybe a white wall ring of strats or teles on the sides would be even better

Sorry, I can't help myself here watching a NASCAR race on TV and having all this useless knowledge about racing...the INDY car teams cut their slick tires by hand when it rains so they have more grip. I suppose you could do the same with a set of racing tires and a soldering iron.

Good luck and I don't want to know how much you pay for the tires although I've seen some giveaways at Homestead on old tires. I just don't know how exactly that works.

I hope the tires have a longevity beyond the VG Stratocaster's. :?

Sorry to learn that you've been under the weather, Chet. That does not please me, considering the past. Hope you get back up to speed soon.

Best.

Thanks Doc! A trip to the ER, xrays, fluids, oxygen, and some antibiotics later I'm starting to feel pretty good again.

As such, you have confirmed my apprehensions. Handwashing all around, and keep the sick at bay....immediate family included. You don't seem to combat infection easily. Unfortunately, hospitals are the worst places to be be ensconced when sick, these days. Gotta keep out of them.

You are quite correct, I do not combat infections as easily as I used too. I tried to stay away from the ER for as long as I could, but it got past my comfortable doctoring myself zone.

I would love to be able to stay away from hospitals!!!!!!

My wife has become quite gun-shy of anyone with a 'cold' these days, including our grandchildren. Kids, unfortunately look great at 9:00 a.m. and are down with 103 by nightfall. Even I, who spend the better part of the day gloved and masked, and hand wash likely more than anyone else on the Forum, manage to pickup a sniffle now and then and even, earlier this year, a 24 hour bug, which surprised me. I am suspicious of flu vaccinations and have stayed away from them . Until they cover all the strains, I'd rather take my chances just keeping clean.

Being out and about, watching people on a day to day basis, you know just how the next pandemic will spread. I refuse to permit the gloved hand which prepared my bagel and tuna to handle my cash at the register and I don't understand how health departments don't prohibit that sort of thing. Keep that in mind the next time you see a food server or preparer touch their person and then your vittles without washing, or how many different functions the rag sitting on the counter serves....from wiping the counter to the knife that cut your sandwich.

If that same individual were a patient of mine and, while under my care, observed me doing some of the things they do at their work, I assure you they would be out the door, never to return, However, they are not trained to the same mindset in their own work environment as they are in mine.

Doc

Interesting statement coming from the medical field. Even my doctor is against my taking the flu shot. (Maybe he thinks the more I get sick the more money he makes). I haven't seen him in the last two years since I've been getting the flu shot. But still I've always leaned towards the conspiracy side that one day they may inject me with a mutation and I might become a carrier. ( I read way too much science fiction).

Still, I'd rather be dead than have to go through the near pneaumonias I was getting and have my doctor prescribe some over the counter cough syrup because my insurance won't pay for the real stuff anymore. Then wind up in the emergency room a couple of weeks later because the people at work don't know enough sense to stay home when they get sick and my already weak system picks up their germ strains.

Regardless, I hope everyone gets better and this winter finally ends for those poor people up north that are still in snow.
