I have a broad taste of music. I am most fond of classic rock aka Beatles/Stones/Hendrix etc.

It's ok, disco doesn't count as music anyway.

I play mostly R&B, Rock, Soul, Funk and Blues (not necessarily in that order).

I'll add some fusion and progressive rock to that now too. :D

I mostly listen to (and play) that hard-to-define genre that you commonly hear in various Texas locales...a combination of Blues, Outlaw Country and Classic Rock, with varying degrees of each style within performances (or even songs themselves).

I call this style "Texas Roadhouse Music", because it's what you'll hear in any old Texas blues bar/juke joint/honky tonk/roadhouse bar on a given Friday or Saturday night...typified by country-esque artists like Joe Ely or Delbert McClinton or Ray Wylie Hubbard or blues bands like SRV&DT or the Fabulous Thunderbirds or rock bands like The Arc Angels or Storyville or Bugs Henderson...the list never ends. None of those bands/artists truly fall into a singular category; rather they blur lines between genres and styles in their recordings and performances.

Somebody described my band (the Screamin' Armadillos) as ZZ Top and the Fabulous Thunderbirds touring with Waylon Jennings...and I took that as a great compliment. 8)

I don't think in genres, I like anything good. There's plenty of crap in every genre too.

I listen to all kinds of beautiful music. I love 50's classic country. when I play, I tend to stick to what I'm best at not good, you understand. But best at. Delta & Chicago Blues/ slide /Harp.& Anything TEXAS. Once in a while I get a little Surf in there. Thats mainly because of the Tacoma connection in the 50/60's 8) 8)

I'll go with the anything good moniker but break it down further in that I don't like anything that's overly-produced or "poppy." I like stuff with feeling, soul, emotion, not preprogrammed ditties targeted at specific demographics. For that reason I like:

Chicago blues
Delta blues
Texas blues
New Orleans blues
Any real blues
New Orleans jazz
New Orleans second-line brass bands
Punk
Funk
Soul
Rhythm and Blues (not that crap that they call R&B that has neither)
Old school country
Old school rock and roll
Truly alternative music

And plenty more from there, including plenty of stuff I haven't even heard yet

Hmm...interesting thread.

Not one specific genre, as others have shown by examples.

In no particular order:

Lounge-exotica
Surf
Cool jazz
Folk-rock
Beatles (early, mostly)
World (some)
Show tunes
Melodic (mostly old) pop
Worship
Old country (pre-hyper-overproduced stetson-sequin pop)

When I started out I was most interested in Surf and Rock - that was in the 60s.

Today I play mostly Rock, Rockabilly and Blues.
