I saw this on another site--and I figured since somebody bothered to post it--she was either a female William Hung, or she had a terrific voice--I didn't see anybody posting it if she just okay or so-so--or even pretty good, but nothing special.

I was curious to see which way it went, and was glad to see it was that she is really good.

She's in the news on nearly every channel here too. Too bad she doesn't have a dollar for every one of those youtube hits.

[quote="Mr Bill"] I quoted the same to a friend in reply when he sent me the link. We are in a real sad state of affairs when we prejudge people on the basis of looks. There certainly a significant number of rock heroes who could win an 'ugly dog' contest. She is gifted with a glorious voice and, if anything, people are talking about her and taking deriving great pleasure from her performance. If you listen closely to the interview, you'll hear again who she would model herself after....Elaine Paige...areal class act and no slouch in the business. I am confident that this woman is no stranger to performance, and is comfortable working in front of an audience. Never forget that it was Simon the Idiot who declared that Jennifer Hudson had gone as far as she could.

God Bless you, Susan Boyle. Being a homely sort myself, I can relate to her. Talent, for a change wins out! I was a very lonely boy growing up and was teased quite a bit but that all changed when people heard me play the guitar. It somehow became my voice that I never had and took me to places that I wouldn't have been accepted. I was never bitter or ashamed of who I was and always stood up for myself but it could have easily gone the other way. As an old man now, I have no regrets for any thing that I have experienced in my life; it all made me who I am today. Go for it, Susan and God Bless you!

I have been saying it for years, its not about talent, its about marketing, and this is a prime example. She is talented, but the labels don't care about how much talent is on the CD, they care about how many CDs are sold...So with that being the case, the labels will often not care about someone who makes a good CD, they just care about someone who will make a good CD cover and video. Unfortunately people judge books and CDs by whats on the cover, so the artist with less talent but takes a good photograph, oftentimes gets more label, radio, and TV support than a more talented, less attractive performer. So while Susan Boyle may sell many CDs based on talent, it may take some time, which is why she probably was not signed to any sort of deal or label prior to this despite her talent, because most labels want to make the quick buck on a so-so talent product, instead of the slowly building and creating a fan and market base for genuinely talented performers.

Good on Susan.

May talent will out, as it is supposed to in music. What magnificent pipes! Best of fortune to a truly great singer.

Hi bowlfreshener: I agree, that's nearly always true. Just once in an age it can work out differently though.

I once had the extreme pleasure of seeing Ella Fitzgerald in a small club. Her entire long career was based on one thing only: her voice. She didn't do leggy album cover shots; did nothing much in movies; kept her private life private - she just had one of the finest voices in history and somehow or other in her case that was enough.

Very rare, though.

BTW:

I also read a article where Piers Morgan was quoted as saying he would go out with her providing she give him half the profits from her first CD. What a P.O.S. he is. What the hell did he ever do to make it in show biz anyway?

He started out as the nasty editor of a nasty newspaper. The rest of his career has been finding something to do afterwards. Say what you like about Piers Morgan... Just make it rude.

My sentiments... - C

North of dudley is the highlands to me mate (JK).

On a side note have you seen her nearest competition. Its some kid that is highly unfair to have entered into a amateur competition as he's a paid singer having appeared onstage in the thriller musical in the west end. Was it a bit role, no he played michael jackson.

Disqualify him i say.

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone can say when
Miss Susan Boyle will take the stage again?
Is this a weekly thing? Or does it go further?

Many thanks, looking forward to her next performance.

Cheers.

Mr Bill they have to get through the first lot of contestants then presumably whittle down the numbers. I'm not sure if previous entries have to perform again.

I wouldnt worry about Miss Boyle not making it though, everyone seems interested.
