good thread i usually read history books but I have a lot of classic fiction that I have to thin out since I have no more bookshelf space. I am reading All Quiet on the Western Front. Then I am going to finish The Complete Sherlock Holmes since I have only 2 or 3 more cases to go.

I'm currently reading the Barsoom/John Carter books by E.R. Burroughs, available for free from Project Gutenberg. Early 20th century pulp sci-fi, fast-paced, very enjoyable to read.

Just finished The Secret Hangman (Peter Diamond Investigation) by Peter Lovesey

and I'm going thru a really great book -

Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo - some really interesting ways to approach the guitar and music. It's a book that I can see that I will always be going back to.

Those were great books! Not what I would normally have chosen to read, but I ordered them on a whim from SFBC. Very original, and a fun read. Just finished The Forest by Edward Rutherfurd, and started Sarum by same. I read London some years ago; all of his books are a tasty read. They follow the history of a region from prehistory to modern times through the lives of fictional families, woven into historical fact. Pick one up if you like to read doorstop-sized books!
