Are the use of personal Avatars a dead issue or is it a possibility. I understand the added work for administration to monitor what's used, but most of the forum users here are great people that would,'t abuse it. What say you forumites? Mike

I would love it even if they had ALL models of equipment and variants in nice photos.

I think I read somewhere recently in a post by Brad that some changes are coming to the forums and that avatars might be one of them.

If you have one you like and it conforms to the forums FAQs, just add it to your signature file, like some are doing.

+1. Just make sure it's not too big though.

Yes, Brad has been seeing a counselor to address his childhood-originated "trust issues"...

How would you do that? It looks like it's just for text.

These forums launched as a giant experiment and the lack of personal avatars is one feature that's still lingering from those early days. We'll definitely have support for personal avatars in version 2.0 of the forums. At this point whenever I have a block of time free to devote to 'community' I prefer to spend it on the next generation stuff that's coming as opposed to introducing tweaks like this to these existing forums, if that makes sense. The more time I can spend on the next-gen stuff the sooner we'll actually deploy it!

And that text could easily be... a link to a picture at Photobucket.
