Now, I know they always say to choose whatever you think fits you best, but I can't choose!

I'm looking to get my (surprisingly) first fuzzbox. I've been using my combo amp's built-in crunch (which is closer to a really fuzzy distortion) for all this time, and now I want something I can adjust better, and turn on and off without bending over and trying to avoid messing up the volume/EQ.

I do already have a good idea of what I want. I'm deciding between an MXR Silicon fuzzbox, and a ProCo RAT2. They both have true bypass, LEDs, AC operation, and are fuzzy. I want something that can go from "Purple Haze" by the Experience to "Love, Hate, Love" by AiC, to "Tourette's" by NIRVANA, to "Doctor Please" by Blue Cheer, et cetera.

I'm into fuzz a lot, so I naturally like the MXR, but I know that the RAT2 is very versatile and has a fuzzy presence.

So, I wanted your guys' opinions. Thanks in advance.

The few MXR products I've use haven't disapointed. Plus they're solidly built (or at least they used to be).

I have a ProCo Vintage Rat that I like a lot. I think it's more like fuzzy distortion though, more creamy and less fuzzy than say, a fuzz face. Go on youtube, I'm sure there are lots of fuzz pedal demos on there for you to watch and hopefully make a good decision from. :)

That's the thing, I went on YouTube and watched every single video I could find on those two things and I still can't decide!

Thank you, and Darkly Dreaming, for taking the time to help!

I have a T-Rex Mudhoney. Love it! Look it up on YouTube! proguitarshop.com has a pretty good review of it there!

Have you been able to test either of them out yet?

Barber Electronics...pick your flavor. It will compliment any Fender tube amplifier.

I did I get to test out the RAT2, but not the MXR yet. The only guitar stores around (which is a SamAsh and Guitar Center at the same strip mall) are a semi-long drive away. Basically, a trip over there is a whole day thing. I don't know the next time I'm going to be able to go over there. Of course, I'm in no rush, but it'd be nice to do it soon, y'know.

I was fuzzless too for a while so I checked a few myself. Recently bought a Biyang FZ7 http://www.myguitarpedals.com/biyang-th ... -p-88.html

Chinese made but was pleasantly surprised. Look it up.

No love out there for the old Boss "Fuzz" pedal? The one I have is a flat gray with "FUZZ" in bold black letters on it. Had it since the late 80s. Couldn't tell you the model.

I don't own it but I've played through the prorat before and like it.
