Yeah, I love Detroit. Grew up in the city. It's jacked now, but it will always be my home in a way. LOTS of great music around town though. So many great musicians to play with, and many national guys are from here. Ferndale rocks too.

I've got a picture of me when I was three with a Roy Rogers guitar...so I guess technically that was my first.

I remember my mom buying an acoustic guitar from a neighbor for 5 bucks when I was five...it was bigger than I was, and the strings were rusty and about
a foot off of the fretboard, and I had no idea about tuning it, but I had fun making a horrendous din with it.

I got my first electric when I was twelve - It was a Lyle SG copy in natural finish, with a black pickguard. I learned Smoke on the Water, Iron Man and Whole Lotta Love on that guitar...

I had rented a beat up old acoustic to start with. After a year I borrowed the money, $200 from my dad, and bought an Epi E444t Granada (semi hollow) and an ampeg amp. Took me 2 years to pay him back. I still have that EPI. Just had a fret job, new tuners, pick guard repair, and set up. I can't believe how sweet she still sounds after 40+ years. I get some real intersting sounds out of her in my SCXD effects. Real vintage.

BTW if anyone knows of a pick guard for an E444t let me know.

Cheap Teisco double pickup electric. No tone, action sky high, but I loved it nonetheless. Mike

It will come back,it has to,Its MoTown

Girl watchin' at the renaissance mall, the fairgrounds. They built part of a freeway through some areas I ran through as a kid. hangin out under the Ambassador bridge. The last time I was there a BP truck stop was under there,is it still?Going in to Hamtramck to eat. going to the ford Museum and drooling over all those sweet old rides. Then going and cruising Woodward trying to "scam some trim" Dang I miss that. Detroit was a blast no matter how bad the lake smelled, lol.I will admit though the occasional wiff of creosote and sewage could kill an appetite, and to this day I recognize the smell of steel from miles away.
Later bro

My first guitar was an acoustic guitar with nylon strings. It was a hand-me-down from my mom's friend. It helped me learn the basics and a few chords.

My first was a $9.99 acoustic with a metallic sticker on the headstock that said "Prestige". Got it for Christmas 1967.

I bought an Alpine White MIM Strat as my first and about 6 months after, I upgraded to the AM. The first pic is when I first got them, and the second pic is present day. MX to the left, AM to the right.

My first was a nylon string acoustic with a collapsed neck to body joint. I managed to suss out A,D and E chords on it then nagged the hell out of my dad for an electric. I got one of these.

I sold it to buy a tokai telecaster (stunning guitar), I wish i still had it. I'm sorely tempted to ring up about the one in the ad but will be castrated if i do.
