I had an acoustic when I was 8 or 9 but the first guitar that I really learned on was electric.

My dad tried teaching me on his old Alvarez acoustic, but the extreme V neck made it difficult for my 10 year old hands. Shortly after I got my electric Preavey Predator.

I had a Squier Affinity Strat first. Although I started teaching myself on my brother's kid sized acoustic because it was small and portable, so when I was bored I'd have something to do no matter where I was. Boredom drove me to start playing.

my first was a crap thrift store acoustic. but the first one I ever bought myself and got serious with was an Ibanez Roadstar II , also a floyd. No one told me anything about changing strings on those. i took them all off. i swear I was near tears before I got it restrung, and tuned, and the trem balanced. it really taught me a lot, the hard way. change the strings in pairs, for each nut clamp.

My first two guitars were Slivertone acoustics made by Harmony and sold by sears.I was still a lad of single digit age. my third through I think 5th or 6th were Silvertone and Airline electrics. Airlines were sold by Wards I believe. Basically wherever My grandmother had a charge card or they would let me do layaway, was where I shopped.I would have done Fender but even with layaway I couldn't afford those on paperboy money. My first strat I bought in 1974 I think, from a paper route customer it was a 1970 and he sold it to me for like 50 or 60 bucks, with case and strap and cable and gave me a silverface Vibro Champ. Boy I miss those days.
