I saw a Dr. Pepper commercial last night, has anybody seen it?

If so you might know what I mean by "smooth...I'm the master of smooth"

Played the jailhouse in coventry the day after mr simmons had been there doing some tv show 'make you a rockstar' or some other rubbish. The promoter was telling us gene had marched him off to coventry cathedral derelict since ww2 and said where do i go to buy it?. Apparently he loved the gothic architecture.

I can't stand Gene Simmons. Probably the least talented member of Kiss who just won't shut up or stop ho-ing out himself to anyone who will pay him a dollar. I will not be drinking any Dr Pepper Cherry, cause Gene probably gets a cut of every can sold while his commercial is in rotation...

I creatinaly agree about the ubiquitous Mr. Simmons. But that's not how image licensing works in advertising. Advertisers don't pay points. Gene would be paid a negotiated fee, which he's surely already got, and it doesn't increase the cost of a can of Dr. Pepper... it came out of a pre-determined advertising budget. So if you like Dr. Pepper, drink on!

I am no Kiss apologist, but Gene did a heap of some pretty decent songwriting in his time. Also, he was the best vocalist in the band by a longshot. As for his bass playing ... well, let's just say that no one will ever confuse his playing with Geddy Lee.

I don't really care for Gene's ego/attitude. I do think he is an underrated bassist. His playing on most of the early Kiss records was really good. I'm sure he inspired some kids to pick up a bass.

Check my username, I couldn't help but post on this one.

As a fan since '78, I've certainly had my fill of Gene and his never ending B.S. Always exaggerating, always trying to be over the top, ego never stops, money hungry BASTAGE!! There I said it.

He's a shrewd businessman, and that along with his early bass playing and songwriting had alot to do with the band's success. His last good work on a bass, or at least original work, was during Unplugged.

I'm a fan of the band, 4 people, on stage playing the tunes I first owned on 8-track...! Other than that each member has his own ego-issues and such.

Gene is just the most big-mouthed, an embarassment to himself. The commercial is dumb.

Yeah, my favorite period was the early makeup stuff through Dynasty, but the reunion was a blast too...!
