How many times you here what if HENDRIX was still alive what would he be doing what would he sound like,Now I am going to use him as the measuring stick for all the other alltime greats cut down way to early in life.I have written in a few post that the two most inovative guitarist in rock history have been #1 Hendrix and #2 VanHalen, now god forbid eddie met an early end right after VH2 everyone would be going wow what the hell would he sound like today/well thirty years later Eddie sounds like Eddie.I think every genious hits that peak and maintanes it.Just one player in my eyes for some reason really does just keeps improving musicaly and technicaly JEFF BECK,now Jeffs not even my favorite guitarist but I have to give him the props .He never sits on what he has done in the past.He has gone from strats.to teles ,lespauls back to strats played with a pick threw it away developed a five finger claw style, added tapping but not as a ripoff.plays with harmonics and the trem like no one else has these quirky micro bends has gone from pop to rock to fusion to techno I have to say you never know what your going to get on a new Beck album.I guess thats why when you read a guitar mag and they are interviewing the real heavy hitters when they say whos the guy that blows you away thEy almost always say BECK and thats why in the last 15 years I had to go back and buy a lot of his stuff I was not all that familiar with. And for any young guns out there not familiar go get WIRED,BLOW BY BLOW AND WHO ELSE FOR A START it will keep you busy for years to come .KEEP ON ROCKIN

Adrian Belew just keeps getting better, in my opinion... maybe guys of his (and Jeff Beck's ) vintage need to have a ridiculously talented girl on bass to produce their best work, or something. He's going off like a frog in a sock at the moment!

If Hendrix was still alive, he'd probably have gone the Syd Barrett route as well.

Jeff Beck was quite impresive on the Hall of Fame performances. He owned that all star jam.

Some of the middle age heroes are just good and fast at playing scales, not composing song structure. My opinion only and not any names mentioned!

Just my opinion, but I think Eddie's playing has grown and changed drastically since VH2. Besides the fact he obviously got a lot more into keyboards since VH2, he also done a bunch of experimentation that really started with the Fair Warning album. Consider the Hagar-era "Strung Out" ... can you picture that on Van Halen's debut album?? Ummm, no. And the instrumental stuff on VH III (w/ Cherone) does not even sound like Eddie at all. Also his tone has also changed drastically since VH2.

Yea probably (I mean Hendrix) Jeff Beck did show his awesome guitar skills on the HOF performances and DID own it by a longshot in my opinion.
