Hi Bill,
1986-2000 American Standard
2001- 2007 American Series
2008- Back to American Standard ?

Vintage Guitar Guide and Blue Book classify the Fenders this way with the exception of the 08s because that info was not available at the time they were published. I recall reading somewhere maybe even on the Fender website that they were going back to the American Standard moniker on the new guitars. Heck they're all good I just play em... :D

Sorry Bill,
My price guides do not go into that much depth. I would assume that your pickups would be relatively similar depending on the number of winds and who wound them. I think they use alnico 5? magnets. There is a difference on the 08 standard pots. The bottom tone control on those is a no load or "delta tone" control meaning there is no resistance to modify the natural sound of the pick up in the detente' or 10 position. It will literally scream depending on how hot your bridge pup gets. I stay away from it. It is way too much treble for me... You'll know if its a delta tone pot if the pot clicks or sticks in the detente' position. I think they offered it on some earlier American series as well. Hope this helped...

There are differences (evolution) in all three models including saddles, tuners, neck finish, tone control, woods and routing, trem block, etc.
