Does she have the 50's or 60's neck on her?

It's not techincally a Les Paul, but it'll be pretty close when I get through with it:

1983 Gibson Spirit, heavily modified. I'm going to turn it into a Les Paul Special.

Chet i love the burst on that!! love the clear guard.

I only have 2 issues with LP's. I have never really liked the pickguard. Gibson really was the company that set the standard for pretty guitars (even back to the late 20's and 30's when they started experimenting with some non-earth tones--heck even before,) so it always seemd a shame to hide so much of it.

second is, i find em a bit heavy to play long gigs, or several gigs in a short time, and still be comfortable.(its a good excuse to use a few different guitars anyway!!)

They are great guitars. Sound great, look great, and frankly, fender and Gibson guitars really compliment each other well, when played together.

I'll play along also. No Gibby LP but an Epiphone with zebra Gibby 57 Classic/Classic Plus combo
From left to right

2008 Gibson CS-336, 1996 Epiphone Les Paul, 2007 57 Vintage Hot Rod (my son's), 2006 American 60th Ann. Strat, 2007 57 Vintage Hot Rod (my son's). He also has a CS-336 and a 2004 amber HSS Highway 1, which was his first guitar...he will never sell that one.

A little history on my LP. I actually took it in as partial payment on a trade. I'm not a big fan of bursts, so my intention was to turn around and trade it for something else. When the guy showed up with it I opened the case and was amazed, then I went to pick it up and almost pulled my arm out of the socket as she weighs in at 10lbs!! I sat down with her and starting playing, That was it I had to keep her.
I made my usual mod by adding the TonePros and found that the pickups were not quite what I wanted, so they got changed and of course better pots and caps had to go in. The crappy looking cream colored pickguard came off and the pickup rings and control knobs were changed to black. Then my friend Vinni asked me if I had an LP. I told him yes. He sent me the personalized V-Guard, I put it on and it looks great!!!

Love that Gibby...it's like an old TV yellow double cut.

Here's my 'Les Paulmost' so far:
Image
I need to go to my brother's place to borrow his drill press, to mount the bridge and tailpiece, and the holes for the pickup mounting rings, and strap buttons. Then if the weather cooperates, i can finally finish up my Ibanez, and then start the finishing work on this.

When I'm done with it, it will be as close as it possibly can be. It needs a refinish (currently spray-painted...), a few holes plugged (it started with humbuckers and was re-routed for P-90s), and a new pickguard.
