What are you going to get with your tax return money? Assuming you get a refund.

Well, after not getting refunds for years, this year I'm getting a decent refund. So, yesterday, I put a new American Deluxe Strat on layaway and I'll pick it up when the refund arrives.. Life is good sometimes... :D

What return? This is the first year in my tax paying life that I havent received a return!! I actually have to pay federal a few hundred bucks - Its because of that stupid $@! stimulus check we got last year!! After I completed my taxes, I left out the info on last years stimulus check, and I would have got a decent return - Anyone else notice that screwing them this year? On the flip side, I will get a few dollars back from state - whoopty $@!&!!! lol

The stimulus check - contrary to popular thought - is not taxable. But what might have happened in your case is it somehow changed your tax bracket up to a higher one.

That's what happend to me. I only owe two dollars but I would have gotten 1500 back if it were not for the stimulus check. Could have bought a new amp. :x

I know several people that did not get a refund this year or got a smaller one because of the stimulus checks.

Im with you Joe - they should have gave people a choice - I remember my accountant said when that was first announced that it was pretty much a loan against your next years return - and damned if they werent right, as I sit here writing my check to the fed government, something ive never done before!!

I'm making them wait for my two dollars. I should ask for an extension just to make them wait longer. :D

Even more depressing than that, my wife will likely insist we do something responsible with the money, like pay off the credit card or buy stuff for the kids.

Can you imagine? and me sitting here wanting to take up drums or buy another guitar. Incomprehensible isn't it!?! :x

If I am remembering corectly this years Recovery Act did not allow for any Stimulus checks this year but it did put a 500. single/1000. joint tax payer credit for next years 2009 return for next year as long as income is below 75,000 / 150,000

Some of it is going towards the Deluxe Player Strat I bought last May during one of those 12 Months no Payment deals... The rest is going towards a new couch. I wish it was going towards another guitar, though...
