My new toy arrived at my house this afternoon - I have been anxiouslly looking for this amp for quite sometime, and finally found her the other day!

1966 Fender Bassman w/2x12 cab - all original, except for tubes - First thing I did, plugged her in, let her warm up - was hoping everything worked correctly - hit a lick on the strat, amazing! Worked fine - Pure Vintage Fender warmth!!

I then had to put my emerald jewel on it - Ive had it for years

This amp has spent some time in the bars, or the previous owner put the Phillip and Morris grandchildren through college - IT STINKS!! Very strong odor!! Other than that, couldnt be more excited - The kickback legs and thumb screws are all in place!

Hello ASG,

Nice amp and cab,
You be able to rock the joint.

I bought a "smelly" guitar a few
years back, sprayed it up with
"Febreze" & it worked quite well,
it took the odor completely away.
Give a try.

Cheers.

Yes, im definitely goin with the fabreeze sometime today - its got a bit of an odor about it for sure! Its great though - I had a blast playing with her last night - never used an effect, just straight into the amp, sounds amazing -im looking forward to hooking the pedal board up to her today!

In regards to the other post about amps and plastic parts, buy vintage!! They knew how to make them back then!

Your amp looks to be in great shape. I have a 65 that does the same thing for me. Great amps and tone to die for. Enjoy bro. 8) Mike

Wow -- the exact same setup I used playing in the late 60s and into the mid-70s. Great tone and terrific for blues and I sometimes even used my for bass in my side jazz trio (keyboards, drummer, myself on bass). Get a fuzz and wah and you can pretend like it's 1968 all over again.

Mine had been in a few hundred bars too and there were no smoking laws back then.

ENJOY!!!! :D

You used Fabreeze on wood???? And this worked??? :?

I was pretty excited about my new Crybaby wah, but that amp certainly tops me!

asg - that's one very fine looking amp you have picked up.

Congrats on finding one that looks that good - I hope she sounds and plays as well. :P

Hello Nicholsoni,

Yes, I removed the strings,
sprayed it up, wiped it down,
did the same thing next morning.
Replaced all the rusty screws and
strung it back up. Worked really well.
I also polished pickup poles and saddles.

Cheers.
