Keeping costs down is one thing. I think this amp was designed to generate money through repair.

Maybe, but I don't think so. While it may generate some repair revenue, this kind of stuff often results is a complete loss of future business. For electronic items, consumers who experienced faulty products with a particular vendor will almost always choose another vendor when making their next purchase.

I see your point and agree senoir Ebach. Theres a lot that could of been addressed at the design stage though that would of cost $10 max to include. Thats nothing on a $500 amp. Perhaps i'm just not used to american amps aside from a peavey bandit i owned as a kid theres only been my current 2. Perhaps english manufacturers know how much english players abuse them. We are notouriously rough on amps.

Thinking about that, the amps do have a 5 year warranty in Canada.
And mine has been back for warranty repairs twice in the year I've owned it.
I don't think repairs are a revenue stream, I think it is the other way around, repairs are costing Fender at least while the warranty is in effect.

And I must say the warranty repair service I've had has been fast and excellent!.

Also 10$ in parts per unit is a huge amount. I know some company that use plastic washers and spacers instead of steel because it saves a couple of cents per unit.
When a product s built to meet a specific price point for a target audience things can suffer.

The reason I purchased the product was to have a professional peice of equipment. If I wanted a cheap amp I would have purchased a viper. Which by the way I did for my wive who is a beginner and it was plagued with problems.
Back to the point , a few of you mentioned keeping cost down. I see the point . However Ithink in this area of heavy use you do not get cheap. A pot is less likely to have any mechanical loads through constant use.

I would also like to say that I know things are expensive these days but I do not consider $500.00 to be just some change.

Later folks :!:

Your exactly right if it breaks so easily then the next time I decide to spend 600 bucks I will choose some other brand . Its ok next time I will know what to look for. So tell me now that they have met the price point and I am not going to buy another one how have they suceeded. Somewhere along the way we have let companys convice us ,the buying public that a certain price gets you cheap inferior product and we must spend much more if we expect quality. I suppose its true in some respects However it is where one decides to draw the line in price with respect to quality. I here my kids say things like 600 dollars thats cheap for (whatever). Since when did 600 become nothing, I am not poverty stricken but I am not buying this crap. I refuse to think I am like the elderly man saying I remember in 1930 you could get a dring for 3 cent. This generation has been brainwashed into acepting the crap our companies put out. We wonder why we constantly loose our manufacturing share in the global market place. I know you have the same problems everywhere, the funny thing ultimately we win we have our money they want it . Congradulations fender you have suceeded in meeting your price point. I wish you much sucess in the future.

Totaly agree.
When you pay any amount you should enjoy trouble free use for a good many years. Obviously things wear out over time and that is an acceptable bump in the road.

We as buyers owe it to manufacturers to give more feedback, how else will they ever improve if we dont make our opinions heard.

If you want killer amps at fantastic value for your money check out Carvin.

I've been playing them for years and they've never let me down.
You really do get more amp than you pay for. The Bel Air series is very "Fendery" and the clean channel on my V3 is set up for a Fender clean sound.

They don't make cutsie little mini amps so if that's what you're looking for it won't help you.

I love Fender guitars but my amps are Carvins.
