If it weren't for Iggy Pop & The Stooges, there would never have been punk rock bands like The Clash and the Sex Pistols...so while you may not see that as significant contribution to music, many of us here do see it as a significant contribution to music. A lot of it has to do with what you are into, and obviously if you do not like Metallica and do not know who Iggy & The Stooges are, then we'll never agree on who deserves to be in there. The thing with Rock N Roll is that has become such a broad term that its hard at times to agree on what is covered by the term and what is not. Its not like the Baseball Hall Of Fame where pretty much everyone has the same definition or idea of what baseball is...

Yep...that was pretty much the point I was trying to make...again it's all quite subjective and folks like us will NEVER completely agree on who deserves to get it. In the early days some of it was very clear cut...folks like Chuck Berry, Elvis, The Beatles, Buddy Holly etc., were easy for them to decide on but as time moves on and they start to examine the "fringes of contemporary music", the choices become harder and harder. So when the folks who make these decisions get together, they have to take that all in to account. You got all the fans on one side who want to see their favorite artist get in and the record companies and corporate entities on the other. From that point of view it doesn't really matter what they do or who they choose...they're always gonna honk someone off in any case.

Anyways, I could go on about this but the one single truth about all of it is that no one is ever going to agree completely about any of it...so I will simply agree to disagree :D.

It's the Hall Of Shame again. Why don't they pick people who have actually been an influence in the music industry. Who will we have next year, Tiny Tim?

DO DESERVE IT!!

I hate to disagree with a fellow WV'ian, but I am going to have to! I do agree that the acts you listed are well deserved for the HOF, but Metallica absolutely deserves their induction!
Later on yes but its just too soon.

You mean the Critic's Hall of Fame? It kills me when I see acts like Madonna and Run DMC, who aren't even Rock N' Roll get inducted but yet pioneering acts like Alice Cooper, The Stooges, Moot The Hoople, Kiss, etc aren't even considered worthy. The Hall of fame is a insult to the music business as far as I'm concerned.

Alice cooper soldout and became a Christfag and i am glad he is not in there.

To Hell with Alice Cooper but i do agree with you the Hall of Fame is a piss stain.

This past weekend's show -

Jeff Beck was amazing...he was having a great night, the whole band was (Vinny Colaiuta may be the best drummer I´ve ever seen play live, Tal was pumpin´ the bottom end and the keys complimented Beck who did 3 encores).

To describe the concert it was like a smooth fast streamlined train that kept picking up speed just when you thought it couldn´t move any faster...very thrilling to witness!. Even my wife who isn´t a fan of Beck or instrumental music enjoyed it and kept asking me how is he making those sounds? He used no picks at all....just fingers...and he played behind the nut, did some fantastic slide playing and really got some otherworldly sounds out of that Strat/Marshall combo.

Most impressive was the Peter Gunn Theme song where the guitar sounded like a horn section at times...the show started with Beck´s Bolero and was driving...hard...and the playing by all with top shelf...Beck threw in little snippets of a variety of different songs while soloing and/or playing the intended tunes. At one point they had a jam going at about 200 bpm and were doing 4s and all were spot on without missing a lick! Truly amazing.
