Like many of you here I own and have owned several guitars, some of which I still own and some are long gone, right now I have 2 nice electrics and one decent acoustic. So far I have owned two strats Hwy 1 and VG, both gone, Gibson Mahogney Vintage Les Paul which is also gone, and a Squire cheapie Tele also gone, I now have a es 335 and a American Standard Tele which are both nice, but neither have I made a true connection with, they felt good at the store and I bought them, I enjoy them and play them both regularly. I'm still looking for a guitar that "i can't live without" which I'm sure many of you have found, how long does it take to find and really know it's the one??? Which one is "the one" for you and how long before you realized it, share your love story. I want to find the one guitar that will make me never look at another.

Many, if not all of us search for that "one" guitar. I personally have owned over 60 guitars since 2000. Some of them Special Orders and very pricey. They have included:

Ric 370/12
PRS McCarty
Gretsch Tennessee Rose
Gretsch Duo Jet
Gibson R6
Gibson SG
Gibson Faded DC
Gibson LP Studio
Burns Brian May
MIM Strat
MIM Tele
Epi LP
Squier Strat

At present I have 4 guitars that I am quite happy with. Will they be the "one" or "ones" for the rest of my playing days I don't know, but for now they are them.

My theory is that as we change, inevitably our ideas of perfect change.

Right now my EJ is the perfect guitar. Someday some other model guitar may come out that changes my mind. Or my tastes will change and I'll find some old archtop that I'll consider perfect. Who knows.

Perfect isn't a constant because our lives aren't constant.

Life is a journey, enjoy your search. In the end, even our favorites end up in somebody elses gig van.
