I've a hard time to chose one. So here are three solos:

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Eddie Van Halen - Eruption
The Eagels featuring Eric Clapton - Hotel California (Accoustic live version) I think it is Clapton who does a little accoustic solo before the song starts.

Thinking about this. I can remember back in 1970 Jethro Tull released their Stand Up album. Mick Abrahams had moved on and was replaced by Martin Barre, who did the lead guitar work on this album.
His guitar playing on this, sounded unique and still does. He played it with a very unusual style, that matched the songs brilliantly. A kind of eastern, arabic sound and notation at times.
I still listen to this at times and love it. Some excellent guitar work.
If you have never heard this, try it. Some great stuff. Recommended listening. 8)

Just had Stand Up on the other day - great album - great music..............

i honestly think some of the most genious guitar solos ever made are from a man named Andy Mckee. Id say his best song is "For my Father". He is really a genious in composing pieces and beautiful ones at that.

More a song, but a guitar solo no less.

But if youre talking strictly "SOLOS" then id have to say

Blues Deluxe By Joe Bonamassa

That guy is a genious and is sooo tasteful in his playing

Just thought of another. One that never get's a mention in this kind of thing and it's Clapton again. 'Cities Of The Heart' it's a short one but great guitar playing. Worth checking out. 8)

Let It Be... the album version. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the single (as heard on The Beatles 1) is mixed differently than the album version... it's a little crunchier.

That one's got me as well. There were several different versions of that solo though.

I have a WHOLE lot, but I'll probably have to go with the second solo in "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath.

Back in the early nineties, there was a poll on BBC UK radio, as to which was the best guitar solo of all time.
It may surprise you but the winner was :
Hotel California - The Eagles
It surprised me.
