Let It Be... the album version. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the single (as heard on The Beatles 1) is mixed differently than the album version... it's a little crunchier.

Jimmy Page's solo in "Achilles' Last Stand." Clapton's solo in "Badge" is great, as well!

Thinking about this. I can remember back in 1970 Jethro Tull released their Stand Up album. Mick Abrahams had moved on and was replaced by Martin Barre, who did the lead guitar work on this album.
His guitar playing on this, sounded unique and still does. He played it with a very unusual style, that matched the songs brilliantly. A kind of eastern, arabic sound and notation at times.
I still listen to this at times and love it. Some excellent guitar work.
If you have never heard this, try it. Some great stuff. Recommended listening. 8)

Got to be the solo from the Kingmen's version of Louie Louie.

Not only a brave choice in here (I cannot believe there isn't a SVR or JHendrix post yet), but accurate. Matter of fact, I read somewhere that it may be the most listened to solo in history (and no, I don't remember where I read it, but it was in a book).

Runner Up: Duane Allman and Dickie Betts in "Blue Sky" (THE best song ever recorded)

The funny thing about Louie, Louie is that right after the guitar solo the singer really screws up. He starts singing the next verse way too early then suddenly stops. I can't believe they left that in.

I'd probably have to say...maybe...the studio recording or live version of Beatin' the Odds by Molly Hatchet. Maybe a handful of their songs and SRV tunes have some of my favorite guitar solos...never can just pick one now...
