It is a free to Tee shirt for us but a free walking billboard for Fender. What does advertising cost?

I just ordered a custom vibrolux reverb, and a 65 twin reverb, I really dont care about the tee shirt that much .If anyone gets the chance to look at Tom Wheelers book The Soul of Tone its an outstanding history of the evolution or FMIC's amplifiers.Just thought I would mention the book.

Congratulations Gratz! Two very fine amps. I bought a 65 twin reverb about a year ago (Wonderful sounding amp) but my old back with plates in it could not handle the weight. :( Great amp! I had to sell it and got the cs57 twin tweed. It's a little lighter for me. A strong young man like you will definitely enjoy it (65 twin) and the vibrolux! Happy for you my friend! :D Get the shirt!!

As much as I would love to have the t-shirt, I will not participate in this promotion. I don't like to waste a salesperson's time by merely looking when he could be selling to someone else.

LOL - You are joking...right?

As someone who has worked commissioned sales in the past, I am not joking. Can you imagine how frustrating it must be to sell musical instruments? How many people come in every day to try things out with no intention of buying? I'm guilty of this myself, but I always try to do so without bothering a salesperson. This promotion essentially requires you to waste a salesperson's time. They deserve to spend as much time as possible with paying customers. I don't want a free t-shirt at the expense of a salesperson's commission.

Yeah, I actually test drove an amp yesterday. And I would have gotten a t-shirt except when I saw, a few days back, that you had to be, what, 18 or so. I was, and am, disappointed.

When I go into a store, if I'm just browsing, I say so--and sometimes salesmen leave me alone--sometimes they try to get me to try stuff out.

When I bought my last guitar I was in several stores, and I let the salesmen know I was just looking at that point and had other stores to check out. Some were very good & helpful--but they didn't get the sale--some were annoying and they didn't get the sale. The sale went to the store that had the guitar that spoke to me the most--the one I couldn't walk out of there without it. But they were also one of the most helpful as well.

I guess that's one way to look at this. However, where I live there's one, yes one music store, so that's where I buy strings, strap, straplocks, picks, capo (lost two of those damn things), and other gear like cords and just recently a Digitech pedal.

So bottom line is if I walk in there one day and try out something for this free shirt than I don't feel too bad about it. They get my money on other visits.

I have spent 1000's of dollars at my local GC, so I felt ok with the fact that I was going in just for the free t-shirt. Well, I ask to try out some of the Fender amps with absolutlely no intention of buying one, and when I was finished I could not bring myself to hand over the form. My conscience got the best of me.

It's a marketing gimmick. Take the shirt, they've already written it off as an advertising expense.
