In 1977 Paul McCartney bought the entire Buddy Holly catalog and proclaimed that a Buddy Holly Week will be observed every year.

Does the UK actually celebrate a Buddy Holly week?

Make sure you bring a pair of imitation Buddy holly glasses :D

Hehe - to be honest we don't seem to celebrate things like that as a nation any more. I mean back in the 50s/60s people were out on the streets with the bunting up and partying on the streets to celebrate things like royal birthdays and what not. No sense of community. Shame, a Buddy Holly week would probably be good fun :D

Though I suppose the Notting Hill festival is still going strong. 8)

That's funny, the last time I went to get new glasses I actually looked at Buddy Holly glasses.

That's the problem with the world, not enough musical celebrations!

I propose a "Fenderfest".

A rolling party, from city to city, inviting all to hop up for a day long open jam.

Can't you just hear Fender's lawyers groaning already???
