Just want to thank Fender for raising the bar in the last year or so. I shopped for a strat over a year ago. I looked at you mim line and every one had paint runs and sags in their finish. I wound up buying a Vintage modified Squier Strat (India made) because it was immaculate.

But last month I wanted a new tele. I went to GC and there was a MIM one for $450. It was the best feeling neck on a tele I ever felt, AND the finish was flawless. I looked up on your site and found that it has polyester finish - Nice!

Ployester was what Kramer used in the '80 (and piano companies too, I'm told) Very, Very hard, durable finish, that is more expensive and hard to apply. Nice choice. I got the 2 tone burst. The body is one piece. A nice surprise on an import.

I also have 2 USA Strats: one Deluxe Ash, and One Highway one. These are both flawless. The Highway one was, from what I understand, was the stripped down, lowest price, entry level USA Strat. Designed for those who wanted a USA Strat but didn't have $1000+ for one.

But these they are making now- WOW. Mine has Alnico pickups, a humbucker in the bridge that still sounds Stratty even though it a HB, thin flat nitro finish, which is usually reserved for high priced guitars - not entry level guitars. This finish being nitro and also the thinness means it has great tone too.

I'm loving it

the MIM 2 tone burst is not a one piece body. It has a veneer that makes it look that way.

When you score a really, really good MIM, it's often a true jewel.
