I have 2 Fenders with maple neck/fretboard.
Both have frets protruding along both sides of
the neck. I was told that it was because the
maple neck shrunk due to dry condition. It doesn't
bother me that much, but is there anything I can do
to remedy this beside filing off the fret edges?

Your's is a common predicament. All you really can do is increase the humidity of the usual environment your guitars are in. Unfortunately, this might introduce other problems such as (but not limited to) warpage, tuning, electrical malfunctions, etc. This is especially true if humidity wise, they are already in an appropriate environment. Either way, there's still no guarantee that the necks will 'swell up' to the point where the sharp fret edges will go away either permanently or temporarily.

Most wood on production guitars will shrink over time. Naturally, metal (frets) won't. Consequently, if those fret edges do increasingly annoy you, they should be professionally dressed.

Thanks for the help.
I'll try to increase the humidity of my room
by turning on a humidifier and see what happens.

Do you remove the guitar from the bathroom right after you take a shower
or leave it there? It sounds quite scary, but I'm quite tempted to go for it.

In AZ the humidity disapates quickly I leave it there about an hour afterwords wipe it down and put it in its case . just make sure the guit is far away enough so condensation doesnt collect on the finish if you have a smaller shower area maybe right outside the door just so the vapor reaches it.good luck make sure you have a luthier check it out when your done, also after you complete the 4 days and keep it at a good hummidity the wood will continue to restore.
