Yes Gibson does in to many of there guitars. Here is a desciption as to what is done in the process at one of the shops near me that has a plek system. They charge 180.00 and another 40.00 if you have a floating trem.

PLEK PRO Computer Scan of your Acoustic or Electric Guitar or Bass, Trussrod adjustment, Computer controlled fret dress, setting the desired string action, nut slot cutting, tune and intonate using the Peterson Strobe tuner, tighten all hardware, polish the guitar body, hardware, frets, clean and/or re-oil the fingerboard and re-string with the desired string set.

Please understand that the guitar, prior to the initial scan for this service, must be pre-strung with the same gauge strings as are to be on the guitar after the final setup is complete.

It's like car detailing but for your guitar.

I mentioned the plek process to Mark Kendrick at Fenders CS, he wrinkled his nose and said he relies on his ear and so do his customers.

In the US: Gibson, Suhr, G&L, Heritage, Martin. Some pretty good names there.

Over seas it looks like Warwick & Takamine too.

There are others, but these are the names that seem to be well known.

It is not a real fast process to do to a guitar which make me wonder how many of these machines does Gibson have. I no there Les Paul Standards are all said to have the Plek treatment they even say that on the features section for them so I guessing all the higher up models may as well.

I am scared enough to let anyone else touch my guitars. regardless of their experience and reputation. i couldn't imagine letting someone hook it up to a machine. I would have to leave, I couldn't watch. i'm sure it is a totally irrational notion, but I've seen way too many robots rise to kill their masters movies to be comfortable with that.
