I know this is an old thread...and off the topic of guitars...

but Vick has signed a 2-year contract with the Eagles.

I wouldn't want him on my fantasy team...forget real team. 8)

Not that dog fighting is right, i love dogs, Vick got what he deserved. JAILTIME. But what is rediculous is Stallworth gets 30 days for killing a human, Stallworth got off way to easy. I dont think Stallworth should ever be able to play football.

No, f#%(&ing way. No way.
How would you like to have your beloved pet stolen and drowned,
tortured or torn to sheds by Vick and his friends.
Imagine your pets last minutes, lost, confused and terrified.

I just saw this monster on TMZ, joking around, livin' the dream.
Made me sick.

Retribution is yet to paid out, I'm sure.

Won't be long before he committs another crime and has to do some more time. He and his brother are not the definetly the brightest bulb in the box. Maybe he can play for the Penal League, like in The Longest Yard.

In this opinion, no convicted felon should be in a public spectator sport as a visible participant.

There are enough "bad examples" in the congress, already, without more in the public eye in the personae of sports personalities.

Reading these posts i've come to realize that If you are an athelete in any sport you have special rights. What everyday criminal that isn't rich or famous could commit a crime serve time and return to an honest career? Think of Pete Rose all he did was bet on a few games and he was exiled from baseball and denied the hall of fame. I guess this is why i've grown away from supporting pro sports. The pro atheletes are showing our kids role model or not that it is okay to do drugs, rape, kill, steal, commit adultry, gamble and God knows what else and still make millions doing what most sports lovers would do for alot less. I think the commissioners of all sports should start making examples of athletes like Vick and deny them return to play.

Leave it to Philly to sign a scumbag. Plus, he has to have a babysitter in Dungy. Vick and his brother have ben in trouble all their lives. He'll screw something up.

I don't follow sports... they're all a bunch of overpaid douche-bags if you ask me...

You can't dodge the role model thing. There are so many single parent families out there I have little doubt we will see a guy sitting behind bars on 60minutes using Vick's experience as an example he should be given a second chance in the near future.

I have no problem with him finding a job and working, just not in an environment where we will be hearing about it every week.

NO.

I think I have to disagree here Chet.

For a couple of reasons.
First, if you really believe in your criminal justice system, then you have to believe that Vick has paid his debt. His record shouldn't be a permanent bar from employment. the fact that he is rich, and 'works' in an industry that generates giant revenue is sort of irrelevant. Unless you want all ex-convicts to live off of the government for the rest of their lives, then their record shouldn't be a deterrent except in fields where it is warranted, like the need to be bondable.

Second the NFL has set the precedent of allowing many people with criminal convictions to return to playing. There are more than a few players with violent crime records, and drug related felony arrests. I remember when he was arrested, a few of us talking about how he will never be forgiven by the fans, and that he would have been better off had he been involved in the death of a person.(like Ray Lewis.)

That said I am not a Vick fan, nor will I ever be. But it would be pretty hypocritical of the NFL to bar him, while allowing the return of players who continually violate the drug policies, and those with gang affiliated charges, those involved in the deaths of other people, rapists, spouse abusers... the list goes on. Sadly Vick only stands out because his troubles involved cruelty to animals. As a convicted criminal, and distasteful person, he is hardly a unique figure in professional sports.

Well said Twelvebar... I agree. I'm not a Vick fan either but the media whipped up this frenzy from the beginning and ignore or downplay far worse criminal activity by other athletes. Vick's ultimate fate will be decided by the fans who vote with their money. He doesn't look too good in this pole...

I don't agree with that, dog fighting is a 'sport' in the south and in other countries as well. Vick is from the south, and grew up with it. Now if it had been $@!& fighting, and than he killed the birds and ate them, than people wouldn't have a problem.

I don't care for the 'sport', and would never have anything to do with it, but Vick being a real criminal, I just don't agree with it.

If anyone with a criminal record was banned from professional sports, than quite possibly MLB, the NFL, NBA, NHL, NASCAR, and many of the different MMA associations/circuits would be missing some big name athletes, talent, and familiar faces...and there is only so much room in professional wrestling for these types of people...
