Agreed, but I'll go you one better:

Encourage your children to think straight.... and to admire people who are good at what they do, ignore people who aren't, and how to recognize the difference.

Not every doctor, teacher, cop, or fireman is deserving of your respect, either.

Fair enough. I agree with you on that.

Not just NO, but HELL NO!!! The only thing Vick should be allowed to do, is defend his own life in a cage full of the animals he abused. Go Dogs!

As much as I dislike what he did and for that matter never thought very much of him as a person even before that because of other problems he had in the past I still have to say yes. The legal system gave him a punishment and when he has finished serving it that should be it. It does not mean we have to forget the past but to stop any future chance of him living a better life and him maybe making futher amends on his own or at least having a chance to would be wrong. And thats coming from me, I am about as hardline as it comes to punisment for crimes.

I just wanted to add my two cents... I believe completely in our Justice System. So that being said he has "Paid his debt to society" and should be allowed in society. The NFL is (more or less) a private company and (in my belief) a private company can hire or fire whoever they want for whatever reason they want.

With that being said... I find nothing more despicable than cruelty to an animal or a child. So if he is allowed to play again I will enforce my right to not give that company anymore of my money! If the "company" looses enough profits because they rehired the scum of the earth than they will only have one choice... Fire him!

I vote let him play.

Now, he's an idiot, and what he did was wrong but our court system gave him his punishment and if he fulfills it than he should be free to pursue a career like other ex-cons. I however will choose not to support him in any way.

IMO, unless you're a murderer or pedophile you deserve a 2nd chance at a life after paying for your mistakes.

The question is not if Vick should be allowed to work. The question is whether the NFL should enforce the existing standards for "personal conduct".

Vick's case is pretty unique in that he is so high profile. Can you imagine the signs that will be at his away games?? This will be very bad for the image-conscious NFL. That is reason enough for the NFL from purely a business-vantage point to keep him out. But beyond that the NFL should exclude all players that cross a specific threshold. The NFL should ban for life any one convicted of multiple felonies, a federal felony, a hate crime, or multiple violent misdemeanors. Just like being the CEO at IBM, being an athlete in the NFL is a very rare privledge that should be earned such that it would exclude people like Vick.

I know quite a few immoral people that go to church every Sunday. Not to mention all of the scandals in churches these days. Morality and religion are two seperate things and one does not guarantee the other.

You get no argument from me. I was just making a snarky comment. Bog And All His Holy Angels forbid anyone think I was advocating church over football!

The NFL and its teams are businesses first and foremost. I'm sure their decisions will be driven by ticket sales and ad revenues over morality. You can bet that someone somewhere has an extensive PowerPoint deck laying out the pros and cons of his return from a risk/benefit standpoint. If he's good for the bottom line, then he'll be back. If not, then he won't.

No. Period.

Regarding criminality, there are many different levels. This one had elements of premeditated, much-repeated sadism, utter disregard for suffering, flagrant disregard for The Almighty's Creation...'could go on, but you folks understand.

Honourable thing in this opinion would be he go to Alaska and 'ask' a Kodiak or Polar bear to give him the same experience he forced on other beings in the name of his concept of 'entertainment,' to perhaps cleanse his soul.

As a Carolina Panther fan, I was so glad when they kicked his butt out of the NFL. I used to watch helplessly twice a year as he would pick apart our defense.
Ethically, if they do allow him back in, I would hope that he would be penalized somehow, possibly by giving him the minimum salary for a player. If he does go to Detroit, and with their offensive line, I will be the first to watch for that first painful "welcome back" sack.

Yes, no doubt that what Vick did was very wrong, however, I believe he has paid the price for his actions.

Should everyone that makes a mistake be made to pay for that mistake for life?

That being said, even if he is allowed back in, this does not mean that anyone has to take him.
