Leave things better than you found them.

Not many people sit on their deathbed and wish they had spent more time working and less time with family.

People who live to prove a point never really do either one.

A favourite poem of mine that i cant just pick one part of to quote so take what you want when you need it.

IF.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

--Rudyard Kipling

If it is stupid but it works, it ain't stupid
Never share a foxhole with someone braver than yourself
Life is a game of inches; know the difference between good, and good enough

What Man Has Done, Man Can Do.

The More Haste, The Less Speed.

It aint what they call you, It's what you answer to.

There comes a time in the affairs of man when he must take the bull by the tail and face the situation.

if a wiseguy named paulie should ever ask you "oh! do i look fat to you?" answer back "to me? paulie , you're just big boned." believe me it'll save a lot of time , cement , bullets , bowling balls , chains , baseball bats , boat rental time , newspapers etc.etc.

Always listen to experts. They'll tell you what can't be done, and why. Then do it.

Any priest or shaman must be presumed guilty until proved innocent.

If it can't be expressed in figures, it is not science; it is opinion.

A generation which ignores history has no past -- and no future.

It is amazing how much "mature wisdom" resembles being too tired.

What a wonderful world it is that has girls in it!

A motion to adjourn is always in order.

Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks.

Stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death, there is no appeal, and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.

Everybody lies about sex.

"One should not increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything."

While not directly attributable to English logician William of Ockham, this paraphrase of a statement in his writings is widely known as "Occam's Razor."

For example, in one of Solid Body's quotes above, there is most certainly observable physical "law." But there is no evidence of anything that could be called "divine order," (and no reason to use the emotionally-charged word "ruled" to describe how such law affects the universe), so assuming such a thing is an example of increasing the number of entities required to explain the universe. Because you cannot know the existence of such a thing as divine order, you cannot reject chance and coincidence as the cause of any effect.

This whole world would be less crazy, violent, splintered and dangerous if everyone applied Occam's Razor to their decision making.

Just because you and Ockham deny the existence of divine order doesn't mean everyone does. I think, personally, that the world would be dangerous regardless. If history has done anything, it had told us that people will always find something to obsess or fight about, and no philosopher had been able to chang that.

Just an opinion and not written in an angry tone, I just want to continue discussing this topic. It interests me.
